Job Description
Hospice Physician / Medical Director Designee – Per Diem
We are seeking a licensed physician (MD/DO) to serve as a Hospice Medical Director Designee and provide physician coverage as needed.
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide coverage for the Hospice Medical Director when unavailable
- Review and certify hospice eligibility in accordance with Medicare hospice requirements
- Participate in IDG/IDT meetings as needed
- Review and sign certifications/recertifications and other required physician documentation
- Collaborate with the hospice clinical team regarding patient eligibility, plan of care, and symptom management
- Provide physician orders and clinical guidance as appropriate
- Assist with face-to-face encounters when applicable and within the scope of the arrangement
- Maintain timely and compliant documentation
Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted California MD or DO license
- Medicare-enrolled and in good standing
- Experience with hospice, palliative care, geriatrics, or end-of-life care strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Medicare hospice Conditions of Participation and eligibility requirements preferred
- Reliable and responsive for clinical/documentation needs
- Comfortable working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary hospice team
Position: Per Diem / Independent Coverage
Location: LA & Orange County
Compensation: $1,000–$1,500 per month
