SUMMARY

The individual holding this position possesses exceptional customer service skills and serves as the face of Hood River Distillers for retail and industry visitors to the distillery tasting room and at outside events. This role’s primary function is to educate consumers about the history, process and quality of the Hood River Distillers brand and products with a secondary function of completing retail sales.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide product tastings to public and industry guests 
• Be familiar with each product, manufacturing   process, and product category 
• Must follow OLCC rules and regulations at all times
• Perform retail sales, including processing of credit card and cash transactions
• Staff outside promotional events as available
• Clean glassware and stock other supplies as needed
• Other duties as may be assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma required.  Experience  in a bar or restaurant and/or training in the alcohol industry desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively with management, customers and employees. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

LOCATION/POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position is based in Hood River, Oregon.  It is a part-time, hourly position with the expectation of working weekends, some holidays, and to have flexibility to cover other shifts and work occasional outside events.  The Hood River Tasting Room is open daily from Noon-6pm.
