The Role

We're looking for a fractional Insurance Advisor who has stood up an agency before and can tell us, quickly and directly, how to stand up ours. Abode is in the licensing process across ten states and building toward our own agency, which means a run of consequential decisions ahead of us on aggregators, carriers, systems, and structure.

What You’ll Do

• Know-how on Agency Structure and Licensing: Entity setup, the DRLP arrangement, and the order to sequence multi-state licensing so nothing sits blocked.

• Guide Aggregator and Carrier Strategy: Which aggregator to sign, which carriers to pursue first, and how to handle carriers who decline to appoint us.

• Call the Vendor Decisions: AMS, comparative rater, and data providers. Tell us when a choice is wrong before we build on top of it.

• Shape the Referral to Agency Transition: How to move from affiliate economics to owning the book without breaking the customer experience.

• Design the Operating Model: What servicing looks like at volume, the staffing ratios that hold, and what to expect on retention.

• Set Compliance Guardrails: What we can say and do before appointments land.

• Pressure-test the Plan: Review our assumptions and tell us where we're wrong.

Who You Are

• You are the person insurance operators call when they're about to make an expensive mistake.

• You've built or run an agency yourself, and you’re an expert.

• Your knowledge is current. You know which aggregators are appointing today and which systems break at volume.

Basic Qualifications

• This role is remote and fractional. We intend for it to be 10hrs/week, 40hrs/month.

• Active or recent P&C license, with experience holding or supporting agency licensure across multiple states.

• You have personally stood up or run an independent agency, including carrier appointments and an aggregator or cluster relationship.

• Hands-on experience selecting and implementing an agency management system and comparative rater.

• Recent operating experience, so your answers reflect how carriers and aggregators behave today.

• Written disclosure of any compensation you receive from aggregators, carriers, AMS vendors, or data providers.
