Home Care Store Manager

Overview

Manages Materials Management Department. Plans, organizes and directs activities in the areas and services of Purchasing, Courier Service, General Stores, Receiving, and Lawson.

Responsibilities

• Establishes standards of performance and productivity.
• Monitors department activities and effects changes as needed to improve services and expedite delivery.
• Coordinates departments' activities with other departments.
• Keeps Administration informed of departments' activities, needs and problems.
• Provides Materials Management consultation for all Hospital departments in usage, inventory control, standardization and cost containment.
• Develops and implements inventory control systems for the Hospital via LAWSON.
• Maintains an effective charging system for materials and supplies via LAWSON.
• Develops and maintains quality assurance and safety program.
• Participates in directing the activities of the Product Evaluations and participates on the Environmental of Care Committee.
• Develops and prepares annual operating budget and ensures department operates within allocated funds. Maintains records and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes. Applies cost effective measures in department operation
• Selects, orients, trains, schedules, assigns, directs and supervises department personnel. Evaluates work performance and initiates or recommends personnel actions such as merit increases, promotions, demotions, transfers, disciplinary action, and/or termination.
• Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as requested. Maintains professional growth and development. Attends external meetings to remain aware of new programs and systems relative to Materials Management.
• Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
• Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive employee relations.
• Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
• Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff.
• Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission.
• Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
• Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
• Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or allied field.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

• Seven to ten years’ progressively responsible experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Proven managerial skills.

Physical Requirements

• Must possess the physical ability needed to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or less than 10 pounds of force frequently.
• Must be able to stand/walk for 2 to 4 hours and sit for 4 to 6 hours.
