Gateway Regional Medical Center is looking for an HIM Specialist to join our Health Information Management team. You'll manage and safeguard patient medical records - from scanning and indexing to data entry and analysis - ensuring accuracy, integrity, and strict confidentiality at every step. This is detail-driven work that plays a vital, behind-the-scenes role in patient care.

What You'll Do

• Collect, organize, and maintain physical and electronic medical records
• Accurately enter and manage data within the MEDHOST EHR system
• Handle record preparation, scanning, indexing, abstracting, and retrieval
• Analyze paper and electronic records for accuracy and completeness
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and all relevant regulations
• Maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information (PHI)

What You Bring

• High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HIM/HIT preferred
• RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
• Technical proficiency, including comfort with Windows environments and Microsoft Office Suite
• One to two years of clerical experience, ideally in a Health Information Department or medical office
• Excellent customer service skills
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience with an EHR system preferred
• Ability to work effectively with staff and medical staff across the organization
