Health & Wellness Peer Educator

Responsibilities:

• Assistance of maintenance of 6 on-campus Wellness Cabinets.
• Assistance with delivering donations to the Warrior Food
  Pantry at St. Matthews Church.
• Creating programming to support students, mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. 
• Coordinate with students for the distribution of
  pre-bundled food bags over break periods.
• Creation of social media posts, pamphlets, posters, and
  other health & wellness media.
• Promotion at various table events around campus, some of
  which may be inside or outside for several hours at a time.
• Maintain confidentiality of students/staff/community
  members who utilize Health & Wellness programming.
• Attend trainings, workshops, and speaking events as
  prescribed by supervisor.
• Maintain current knowledge of substance use habits on
  college campuses.
• After training, provide substance-use related education to
  peers in various settings.

Required Qualifications:

• Current ESU student of Public Health, Exercise Science, or related health field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Interest in Health Education, Preventative Health, and addressing food
  insecurity/hunger on a college campus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills focusing on both the ability to
  present and create presentations (public speaking training and practice can be provided).
• Ability to handle a variety of tasks and use good time
  management skills.
• Relatively flexible schedule; able to work evenings
  including some weekends, but rarely.
• Desire to help create a more thriving, healthy campus.
• A positive attitude that will promote healthy lifestyle choices for yourself and others. 
• Encourage positive health behavior changes among students.
• Willing to seek help and ask questions when needed. Receive direction and constructive
  feedback in a positive manner.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting when needed.
• Demonstrate skills of a self-motivator and have high levels of energy and enthusiasm.
• Eagerness to learn.
• Serve as a responsible role model to both on and off campus students and the community, representing ESU in a positive manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.

Additional Information:

• Health & Wellness department working 7-10 hours per week hours subject to change.
• $15.00 per hour.

Employment Eligibility & University Commitment

Must be at least 18 years old and have English literacy skills. Employment with ESU is contingent on the selected candidate passing a thorough background check that includes: FBI fingerprinting, PA Child Abuse, and employment/degree verifications.
