Speaking of silly stuff, we even wrote and produced our own comedic commercial about the real pains that our customers have, and it helped make one of our tools the fastest growing AI tool in the industry! 

Ultimately we want our marketing to be funny, human, and memorable, because honestly a lot of the stuff out there in the government industry (which is where we compete) is boring. 

Now we're looking for someone exceptionally creative to lead our marketing department — a person with the freedom to take big creative swings and the resources to execute their own.

Our brands — Town Web, HeyGov, and ClerkMinutes — form a suite of tools built specifically for municipal clerks, and each one is crafted to be exceptional at its job. Who we are

We're a small, bootstrapped company approaching $3M in ARR, competing against large, private-equity-owned firms with far deeper pockets. That's why our marketing has to be exceptional on two fronts at once: creative work that is unique and memorable, and follow-through to match it — multi-channel campaigns, disciplined measurement, and sophisticated execution that turns attention into pipeline.

Our customers are municipal clerks at cities, counties, and municipalities of all sizes. They are busy, under-resourced, deeply practical, and they talk to each other (which as you can guess is why we are emphasising the need to have exceptional marketing!)

We build focused products for the clerk specifically, designed to work together as a suite. ClerkMinutes became one of the most widely adopted tools in its category largely on the strength of marketing that looked like nothing else in this space, and your job is to push that further across the whole portfolio. We run on EOS, and the marketing department's cadence — L10s, quarterly Rocks, scorecards — will be yours to run.

What you'll own

• Strategy and positioning across the portfolio, and the department's EOS operating cadence
• Demand and revenue — building a qualified pipeline for Sales through targeted campaigns and similar initiatives. This is how success is measured. 
• Full-channel execution — conferences, webinars, direct mail, PR, and outbound alongside digital and paid. Clerks trust people who show up in person, so you will too.
• Lifecycle marketing — from first touch through trial to customer, along with the tech, tracking, and attribution behind it
• The quality bar — you're the final day-to-day reviewer on copy, design, campaigns, and launches
• Go-to-market with Product and Sales — new product launches and targeted campaigns that get us early beta testers, help build awareness for product pilots, and than formal product releases.

Who does well here

Isn’t it clear we’re looking for somebody extremely creative and ambitious!? 😛Are you “THE ONE?” 

We’re looking for a creative strategist and an enthusiastic builder who can lead the team from the front line. Think of a special-forces team leader: they plan the mission, and when it's time to move, they're also the first one through the door. That's the posture this role needs — you set the strategy, and then you're in the weeds executing it right alongside the team.

And there is a team. You'll work directly with our copywriters, internal product managers, the sales team, and the people who handle data connection and attribution through Salesforce and our other marketing tools. You'll have a team around you, but want to be clear: we’re not looking for a “manager of managers”.

AI tools like Claude or Codex are part of your daily workflow, and you rely on them to get competent quickly in unfamiliar territory, whether that's GEO, GA4, or something we haven't thought of yet. You also know how to work with a highly creative founder: turning a lot of ideas into focused priorities, pushing back when something won't work, and making sure the good ones actually ship.

This role suits someone who's comfortable working without a finished playbook, and who would rather be in the work than above it.

What we need to see

• Exceptional Enthusiasm
• Extremely Creative Energy
• You've led a marketing function and been accountable for its results
• You've made a traditional or crowded category stand out with ideas of your own
• AI is central to how you work, and you're comfortable enough with code to build or fix small things yourself
• Real paid acquisition experience across Meta, Google, LinkedIn, and Bing, and you can run SEO and GEO by directing AI tools well
• Hands-on experience with direct mail, paid ads, conferences, PR, or other high-attention channels, and you're happy traveling to meet clerks and work conferences alongside Sales
• B2B SaaS background, and you've managed employees, contractors, and agencies

Nice to have: GovTech or public-sector experience, marketing more than one product at a time, and building measurement where little existed. EOS familiarity helps too!
