Gymnastics - Instructor I or II - Part Time

Job Summary:

Provide quality gymnastics instruction for the benefit of the participants including toddler/preschool age through intermediate/advanced level participants.  The days of work and hours will vary to meet program needs. Requires evening and weekend shifts. The salary range for this position is:

Instructor I $15.16- $18.51 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.  

Instructor II $15.76- $21.27 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.  

This opportunity will remain open until filled.

This is a part time, less than 20 hours per week position.

Essential Functions:

• Properly instruct registered participants.
•  Develop, oversee and implement lesson plans, participate in required training.
• Inspect classroom and program environment and equipment to ensure safety, handle emergencies according to established procedures.
• Complete administrative tasks such as skill assessment of participants, attendance sheets, class evaluations and class descriptions for brochures.
• Provide make-up sessions as required.

Other Job Functions:

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Instructor I:

• Previous gymnastics experience; extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age at time of hire.
• Experience as an assistant instructor preferred.
• Course work in recreation, education or related field preferred.

Instructor II:

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• 1 year experience coaching/teaching gymnastics with extensive previous participation in and sound knowledge of the activity required.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.
• Course work in recreation, education or a related field preferred.

Certifications:

• Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 60 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient knowledge of gymnastics.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically.
• Strong customer service skills .
• Handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and with diplomacy.
• Must demonstrate competent organizational and planning skills.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Frequent light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
• Occasional exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
