Job Description

Fort Worth Country Day is seeking a full-time Grounds Worker to be part of the Plant Operations department. Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor, this is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly paid position typically working Monday through Friday 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. 

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Mowing, edging and fertilizing lawns
Weeding and mulching landscape beds
Trimming small trees, hedges and shrubs
Removing unwanted, dead or damaged trees
Planting shrubs, flowers and trees
Watering gardens, lawns and landscapes
Monitoring and maintaining plant health
Ability to operate equipment to include a tractor
Communicate with fellow employees and supervisors
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Ability to perform work independently without close supervision

Physical requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for the entire 8-hour shift
Ability to push, pull, bend, reach and crouch
Must be able to lift, carry and transfer items up to 50 pounds
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and work in elevated areas
Must be able to drive a golf cart on school grounds
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all climates and conditions
