 About the Pantry: The Pantry is the only weekly choice food pantry available to residents of the 21 northern Westchester communities we serve. It provides three in-person food distributions a week and bi-weekly home deliveries. Our staff and volunteers serve several hundred area households weekly. Our mission is nourishing our neighbors in need, and we envision a northern Westchester community where everyone has enough nutritious food and is empowered to thrive. 

Position Summary: The Grants Manager will report to, and work closely with, the Director of Development. The individual will be responsible for securing funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources that support The Pantry’s goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria, through compelling, accurate and timely grant proposals and reports. This person serves as the primary grant writer, manages funder relationships, engages in compliance reporting, and supports special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement. 

Key Responsibilities: 
● Research and identify new grant opportunities 
● Write and submit grant proposals, LOIs, and applications 
● Manage the grants calendar and deadlines 
● Prepare and submit grant reports and impact updates 
● Support departmental campaigns and events as needed 

Primary Focus Areas: Institutional funding, grant writing, grant reporting, grant compliance 
Job Responsibilities: 
1. Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications, including: 
● Researching new funding and business development opportunities including foundational and governmental support on a local, state, and federal level. 
● Maintaining and building relationships with funders and other strategic partners on a local, state, and national level. 
● In partnership with the Director of Development, drafting proposals/LOIs, grant-application narratives, and budgets. Final approval given by the Executive Director. 
● Submitting grant applications via paper or online portals, and maintaining a list of user ids and passwords. 
● Meeting with funders to explore funding opportunities and fulfilling site-visit requirements. 
● Maintaining master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence. 
● Maintaining a library of grant-support documents including resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board/staff information. 
● Executing thank you letters and facilitating grant contracts/agreements. 
● Ensuring acknowledgment of funders/investors via website, e-newsletter, and social media. 

2. Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets—taking responsibility for meeting high standards of effectiveness, timeliness, and completeness, including: 
● Monitoring and maintaining funder and investor reporting schedules and requirements. 
● Tracking progress toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals. 
● Requesting reimbursements and drawdowns as needed. 
● Overseeing grant allocation tracking. 
● Drafting compelling progress reports and targeted program updates (e.g. blog posts, press releases, FB and twitter posts) to funders that fully capture programmatic success. 
● Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.; submitting reports to funders and investors. 

3. Researching statistics, trends and data for grant proposals and community advocacy, including: 
● Performing research and data-gathering. 
● Assisting in development of presentations for various stakeholders. 

4. Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements/Qualifications: 
Experience & Skills 
● Have a passion for Food Insecurity issues. 
● Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills experience as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience. 
● Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in an effective and efficient manner. 
● Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Strong skills and experience with donor development/CRM software systems. 
● Be collaborative, efficient, enthusiastic, and flexible. 
● Bachelor’s degree (or a proven track record of at least 3 years of work experience with nonprofit donors and funders). 
● Must have own transportation to attend donor, funder, or industry meetings and events.
