Grain Originator Intern

Job Details: Job Location: Central - Eldridge, IA, Position Type: Intern, Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.00Hourly, Job Shift: Day Shift, Job Category: Sales, As a Grain Originator Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the agricultural supply chain, specifically focusing on grain procurement, market analysis, and relationship management with members. This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with our experienced grain originators and assist in sourcing grains, managing logistics, and contributing to the overall strategy of our sourcing operations.
 
Essential Duties:

Maintain direct contact with customers and prospects within the designated trade area to foster relationships and expand the customer base.
Build and manage a customer contact list, establishing a consistent contact pattern to ensure effective communication.
Provide weekly updates to the grain team on the past week’s activities, including customer interactions and market developments.
Participate in weekly team calls as a member of the origination team to discuss strategies, market conditions, and customer needs.
Assist in generating purchase contracts with customers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Update daily grain bids and delivery hours on the company’s website and app to ensure current and accurate information for customers.
Follow accounting procedures to maintain accurate grain positions and support the overall financial management of grain transactions.
Periodically contribute to customer engagement efforts by providing newsletter articles, social media content, or other relevant information to customers and prospects.
Evaluate marketing alternatives and assist in executing marketing plans to maximize value for grain customers.
Develop a solid understanding of the company’s cash grain positions and basis positions and be able to assess these for potential marketing returns.

Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program related to agriculture, business, supply chain management, economics, or a related field.
Computer Skills:   Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Certificates & Licenses: Valid driver’s license
 
Working conditions: May be exposed to dust, noise, heat, cold, ag chemicals, and vapors, and moving machinery. May be required to work long hours, as well as work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
