Government Relations Intern-Summer 2027-Bloomington or Springfield

The Government Relations Intern will support and enhance the work done by the Government Relations Department. The department manages relationships with elected officials at the state and federal levels, develops outreach opportunities on policy issues, and the Illinois Soybean Grower membership. This position will work with the Government Relations team and ISA farmer leaders creating materials to enhance legislative meeting materials, providing regular policy updates, and assisting with the coordination of Illinois Soybean Grower initiatives. The position will also provide an opportunity to work with all departments of the Illinois Soybean Association to effectively accomplish the objectives of ISA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize GIS mapping technology to better develop the impact of the soybean industry across the state.
• Develop strategies to communicate key topics and issues to various audiences working with internal ISA team members.
• Develop plans and materials for meetings with state and federal legislators.
• Prepare materials for and attend summer DC Fly-In.
• Write informational editorials for monthly grower newsletters.
• Create relevant one-pagers needed for legislative meetings.
• Assist with Weekly Policy Updates.
• Attend any pertinent events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Junior or senior in college at an accredited university majoring in a related field.
• Willingness to travel within the state and potential to stay overnight.

Physical Requirements

• Normal office working conditions.
• Must be available to travel offsite for meetings/events when necessary.
• Some physical demands – may need to lift between 10-50lbs.
