About the company

DeKalb Brilliance Academy

DeKalb Brilliance Academy is a free, public charter school in South DeKalb built with and for the community we serve.

Before opening in 2022, our founders spent three years working with more than 1,000 families and community members around one question: What should the purpose of school be? Families challenged us to build a school that would help children understand their unique gifts, identify their paths for impact, and become leaders in any field they choose.

Today, DBA serves 600 students in grades K–6 and is growing one grade annually toward a full K–8 school serving 800 students.

Our Career-connected Project-based Learning model connects rigorous academics to real-world careers and problems beginning in kindergarten. In middle school, students select Impact Pathways in Design & Engineering, Public Health, or Technology.

DBA serves one of metro Atlanta's highest-need communities, with 84% of students living in poverty and 19% receiving special education services. Among 41 schools within a 20-minute driving radius, DBA ranks in the top 10% for proficiency in both Math and ELA, with student proficiency rates more than double the local median.

Our community's trust is equally important to us. DBA has been fully enrolled every year since opening, received more than 800 applications for 150 available seats for 2026–27, and 99% of families say they would recommend DBA to another family.

Where the strength of our community nourishes the brilliance of our children.
