Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Global Claims Technical Claims Manager in our Life Health Global Claims unit to work remotely based out of our Stamford, CT office.

Role Description

The Global Claims Technical Claims Manager is responsible for
supporting the delivery of the reinsurance claim risk management across all
global regions and products to both internal and external Gen Re clients. This includes, but is not limited to,
the risk assessment of reinsurance liability, branchand client training development and delivery, internal and external audit activities, as well as representing the company and/or
speaking at various industry conferences.

Key Accountabilities:

As a Global Claims Technical Claims Manager, you will:

•  Be responsible for the timely decision making and accuracy of reinsurance determinations on multiple lines of claim submissions in support of GRL Global Claims. Incumbent contributes to the accurate and efficient adjudication of claims by supporting the Global Chief Claims Officer, Segment Claim Officers, their branches and client’s investigation or coaching/mentoring on claims in all ranges of complexity to ensure compliance with policy provisions, the various regulatory environments (e.g. state/federal regulations, commonwealth, etc.) and reinsurance treaties in effect.
• Maintain a working knowledge of international / statutory / federal / regulatory /privacy and other legal/compliance issues (e.g. State specific and SSDI updates) and keeps on the cutting edge of changes within the industry crossing multiple products.
• Participate in international due diligence activities such as conducting audits on cedents and internal claims branches and reporting findings in a timely fashion.
• Identify emerging risks, trends and themes not only in the client’s inventory but within the industry; sharing industry gleaned best practices and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain Global Claims guidelines, standards and standard operating procedures.
• Build and deliver customer specific training programs and seminars; emphasizing and implementing technical solutions to business needs to achieve desired improvements.
• Deliver high levels of customer service to internal and external customers in a professional, reliable and responsive manner.
• Be responsible for influencing a variety of constituents at various levels internally and externally. Thus, being accountable for the effective development, ongoing maintenance and consistent application of client communications and relationships.
• As an expert claim resource across multiple products, the Global Claims monitors national verdict/judgment/determination trends and legal developments pertaining to the industry.
• Conduct research, drafts and publishes blogs, articles and training oriented to educating the branches and its clients.
• Represent the claims functional discipline and use his/her market expertise to contribute to claim related projects.
• Respond to ad hoc reporting /projects from the Global Chief Claims Officer such as timely and accurate reporting of statistical information.
• Provide a broad range of regular (monthly/quarterly) management information in support of Global Claims. Responsible for synthesizing a large amount of information from a variety of sources.
• Participate and when required lead meetings, case clinics and conferences with internal and external stakeholders.
• Responsible for collaborating with our international P&C claim colleagues for best practice sharing opportunities.
• Attend and represent Gen Re at industry conferences and functions.
• Representing Gen Re’s interests in industry working groups.
• Participate in product and treaty reviews.
• Lead by example in terms of collaboration, transparency, communication, and best practice sharing both internally and externally.
• Act consistently as a teacher, mentor, and leader within Global Claims and the wider Gen Re Claims Community.

Role Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive (minimally 5 years) prior claims experience in L&H insurance and/or reinsurance claims
• Prior experience managing claims thereby equipping the incumbent with the ability to assess reinsurer responsibility in its broadest sense (e.g. reviewing and offering risk management insights and recommendations on facultative and consultative claim submissions)
• Prior claims audit experience. Reinsured audit activity may involve setting the audit scope, implementing/conducting the audit itself as well as communicating results to an array of constituents in various areas such as claims, finance, legal, or actuarial/reinsurance. Developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting against a Quality Assurance Branch Program (e.g. measuring and monitoring consistent delivery of claim process controls, risk management and collaboration)
• Prior experience emphasizing and implementing claim solutions to help manage risk and develop in-depth knowledge
  Strong working knowledge of multiple coverage lines (Individual Disability, Group Disability, Individual Life, Group Life, Long Term Care, Critical Illness, Medical Expense etc)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities
• Strong team player and member of a team
• Proven critical thinking skills that demonstrate analysis/judgment and sound decision making with focus on attention to detail

• Deliver “value added” service to branches, regions and their client companies to enable them to improve their technical expertise and operational performance
• Experience with and proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access
• Experience dealing with staff and projects from a remote location
• Strong working knowledge of products and coverages in multiple markets
• Bilingual or multilingual communication skills, including the ability to read, write and interpret information in multiple languages
• Previous experience reporting on claims trends and outcomes
• Previous experience presenting technical matters to audiences of various levels of expertise

Salary Range

155,000.00 - 259,000.00 USD 

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
