Job Description
The Loomis Chaffee School seeks an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Throws Coach to join our Track & Field coaching staff for the spring season.
Loomis Chaffee's Track & Field program is a perennial contender in both the Founders League and Division I NEPSAC, with a long tradition of competitive excellence and student-athlete development. We are seeking a coach who is passionate about teaching and mentoring young athletes while helping them reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the development of our shot put athletes while providing technical instruction and support for the discus.
- Plan and conduct engaging, developmentally appropriate training sessions for athletes of varying experience levels.
- Foster a positive, challenging, and inclusive team culture built on sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth.
- Collaborate closely with the Head Track & Field Coach and event coaches to support the overall success of the program.
- Attend practices, dual meets, invitationals, and championship competitions throughout the spring season.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching and/or competitive experience in the throwing events, particularly shot put and discus.
- Strong technical knowledge of throwing mechanics and athlete development.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A commitment to working with high school student-athletes in an educational setting.
- Understand and follow policies and expectations of Athletic Dept and Athletic Training Staff
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor students while supporting the mission and values of The Loomis Chaffee School.
- Coaching experience with a school or club program
- College and/or high school playing experience
- CPR and First Aid certified or willing to get certification
This is a part-time stipend position.
The Loomis Chaffee School is an independent, coeducational boarding/day school located in the historic town of Windsor, Connecticut. The school enrolls 750 students in grades 9-12 and postgraduates and employs 350 faculty and staff.
