Pay status and classification: Non-exempt, Temporary part-time. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.

Supervisor: Director of Athletic Facilities & Event Management

Position Purpose: The General Athletics Temporary Assistant provides support for athletic event operations, facility management, game day administration, parking operations, and rental supervision. This position plays a key role in ensuring a positive experience for student-athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, and facility renters during athletic contests and special events.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist with game day operations for varsity athletic contests, including setup, event support, and breakdown.
• Support parking operations during athletic events, managing traffic flow, directing guests, and maintaining safe access to facilities.
• Conduct facility opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, signage, barricades, tents, and athletic equipment.
• Provide customer service and guidance to visiting teams, officials, spectators, and campus guests.
• Serve as on-site support during external facility rentals, ensuring compliance with facility policies and rental agreements.
• Monitor facilities during events and report maintenance, safety, or security concerns to supervisory staff.
• Assist with equipment transportation and storage.
• Support special events hosted by the Athletics Department and external organizations.
• Perform other operational and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Interest in athletics, event management, sports administration, coaching, or facility operations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the athletics event schedule.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in athletics, event operations, facility management, customer service, or parking operations.
• Familiarity with collegiate athletics and event environments.

Working Conditions

• Primarily works in athletic venues and outdoor environments.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
• Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and during large public events.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
