Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA)

**Position: Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA)**

 **Coverage Duration:** Immediate start for 6 months preferred (3 months considered for continuity).

- **Work Environment:** Clinic setting.

- **Schedule:** Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (some flexibility with hours may be possible).

- **Daily Responsibilities:** This role involves both clinic care and rounding; it is not a surgical assisting position. The NP/PA will operate independently in the department, supporting 14 gastroenterologists. Requires both inpatient and outpatient experience, specifically in gastroenterology. 

Responsibilities include:

  - Conducting initial patient consultations.

  - Following up with patients on pathology results.
 

- Managing medication and addressing inbox inquiries.
 

- Performing general GI consultations.
 

- Morning rounding (approximately 2 to 2.5 hours) followed by clinic duties for the remainder of the day.

  - Competency in conducting paracentesis in the clinic (2-3 procedures daily) is essential.

  - The provider will work independently, with RN/LVN support available. Strong communication skills and the ability to integrate into a collaborative team culture are mandatory.

- **Call Requirements:** No on-call responsibilities.

- **Patient Volume:** Estimated rounding includes 8-10 patients per day with 2-3 paracentesis cases.

 **Provider Staffing:** The clinic supports 12 GI physicians; there will be no additional NP/PA onsite for support.
- **Electronic Medical Record System:** EPIC.

- **Credentialing Timeline:** Approximately 60+ days from application submission.

- **Licensure and Certifications Required:** Candidates must be board certified and hold BLS certification (American Hospital Association).
