Fundraising and Income Generation Advisor

Project Description

Professionals with experience in donor relations and fundraising are called to support nonprofits in Georgia as they navigate critical transitional times.

Nonprofits have been recently impacted by severe legal and financial constraints that have led to reduced international funding. Additionally, projects often dissolve after donor funding expires, making project activity heavily influenced by donor priorities. These factors are forcing staff to rethink their financing models, programming, and operations. The nonprofits greatly need assistance with sustainable growth opportunities, partnership building, stakeholder engagement, and innovative models of strategic coordination.

As a Fundraising and Income Generation Advisor, you will collaboratively develop strategies to enhance resource mobilization, build new partnerships, as well as design and manage projects.

Required Skills

Competitive candidates will have one or more of the following criteria:

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Economics, Management or other relevant field
OR
5 or more years of expertise working in an NGO or a donor-driven organization
OR
Strong organizational and communications skills
OR
Specialized expertise in prospect/donor identification, grant writing for the non-profit or international development sectors
OR
Experience in training specific to grant writing, fundraising and proposal development

Living Conditions

Volunteers will live in a mid-sized town or city in western Georgia. Housing is a reasonable distance by foot or public transportation to the work site.

Activities

Identify individual and private sector donors or fundraising event opportunities.
Improve proposal planning and writing practices, including the adoption of structured and sustainable processes.
Enhance programs, projects, service plans, and monitoring and evaluation tools.
Organize workshops on fundraising, social entrepreneurship, and income-generation models.
Strengthen partnership proposals and creditability among potential funders.

You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as staff workshops and youth activities.

Training

After a 3-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to an urban community where you will collaborate with a non-governmental organization. You will work with the partner and your community to assess the local needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals.

Peace Corps/Georgia will equip you with Georgian language resources and you may work with a local tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
