We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Your responsibilities will include managing patient appointments, verifying insurance information, maintaining accurate medical records, and providing exceptional administrative support to the medical staff. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and coding with CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes.
- Manage incoming calls with professional phone etiquette, directing inquiries appropriately and handling appointment rescheduling or cancellations.
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process medical billing and collections using systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring timely payments and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Assist with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and patient intake procedures to streamline clinic operations.
- Support front desk operations including filing, faxing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Ensure confidentiality of health information in accordance with HIPAA standards while handling sensitive patient data.
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation review and administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and dental office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus for dental clinic settings.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic or healthcare office experience is preferred to ensure smooth integration into our team’s workflow.
