FP&A Coach

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an FP&A Coach based in the United States.

This remote contract role is designed for experienced FP&A and corporate finance professionals who can turn real-world expertise into practical career guidance.
You will coach students and early-career professionals pursuing opportunities in financial planning and analysis.
Your guidance will cover recruiting preparation as well as core FP&A disciplines such as financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
The role combines strong financial expertise with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and provide actionable feedback.
You will help learners strengthen their technical capabilities, prepare for interviews, and better understand the expectations of corporate finance roles.
Coaches set their own hours and rates while conducting sessions virtually in a flexible, independent environment.
This is an opportunity to share valuable industry experience while helping ambitious professionals build successful careers in finance.

Accountabilities

• Coach students and early-career professionals pursuing FP&A and broader corporate finance careers.

• Help mentees prepare for finance recruiting processes, including resume reviews, interview preparation, and career guidance.

• Provide practical instruction and guidance on financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, planning, and business partnering.

• Explain FP&A concepts, processes, and best practices using real-world examples and professional experience.

• Help learners develop the technical and analytical skills required to succeed in corporate finance environments.

• Review resumes and provide actionable feedback on positioning, content, and alignment with finance career opportunities.

• Conduct mock interviews and provide constructive feedback to help candidates improve their communication and interview performance.

• Adapt coaching sessions to each learner’s experience level, career objectives, and specific areas for development.

• Share practical insights into FP&A workflows, stakeholder management, financial planning processes, and business decision support.

• Conduct virtual coaching sessions and contribute to a high-quality, engaging learning experience.

• Stay current with corporate finance practices, FP&A tools, financial planning methodologies, and evolving expectations for finance professionals.

Requirements

• Professional experience in FP&A, corporate finance, financial planning, financial analysis, or a closely related discipline.

• Strong hands-on experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and business partnering.

• Experience working within an established organization, with experience in a large or complex corporate environment strongly aligned with the role.

• Strong understanding of core FP&A processes and how finance teams support strategic and operational decision-making.

• Ability to explain financial concepts and analytical techniques clearly to students and early-career professionals.

• Strong communication, coaching, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to provide structured, actionable feedback on resumes, interviews, financial models, and career development.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with sound financial judgment.

• Ability to adapt coaching sessions to different learner backgrounds, goals, and levels of technical proficiency.

• Comfortable working independently in a flexible, fully remote contract environment.

• Demonstrated interest in helping emerging finance professionals develop the skills and confidence needed to advance their careers.
