Whether you're beginning your culinary career or looking to gain additional experience, this position offers practical, real-world training in a professional commercial kitchen while serving approximately hundreds of meals each day to students and staff.

Position Summary

As a Cook Assistant, you will work alongside our culinary team to prepare wholesome, nutritious, and appetizing meals while learning the daily operations of a high-volume food service environment. You'll help ensure food quality, food safety, and excellent customer service while supporting our mission of helping students succeed.

This is an On-Call position with flexible scheduling based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

· Assist with the preparation and service of daily meals.

· Ensure serving lines are properly prepared before each meal service.

· Assist in preparing wholesome, nutritious, and appealing meals.

· Monitor food temperatures throughout meal service to ensure food safety compliance.

· Maintain proper food handling and sanitation standards.

· Assist with inventory management and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishing.

· Help prepare weekly and monthly food service reports.

· Maintain daily records of food costs and food usage.

· Assist with kitchen organization, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.

· Work collaboratively with the Food Services team to provide excellent service to students and staff.

· Follow all health department, sanitation, and food safety regulations.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Two years of experience in a cafeteria, restaurant, commercial kitchen, healthcare food service, school cafeteria, or related food service environment preferred.

· Knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.

· Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.
