POSITION SUMMARY
The Floor Operations Supervisor is a part time, hands on shift leadership position responsible for supporting daily visitor operations throughout the Moreno Valley Museum & ArtSpace. The position provides day of direction to Museum and Visitor Experience Supervisors and other assigned employees, coordinates floor coverage and breaks, responds to visitor concerns, and communicates operational issues to venue management.
This position is scheduled for 24 hours per week and reports to the Venue Manager and Associate Venue Manager. The role requires a visible presence throughout the venue and direct support of visitor operations when operational needs require.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support daily visitor operations within the museum and assigned public areas during scheduled shifts.
- Provide day of direction and support to Museum and Visitor Experience Supervisors and other assigned employees.
- Conduct shift briefings, coordinate floor assignments and meal and rest break coverage, and adjust coverage based on attendance and operational needs.
- Complete assigned opening and closing responsibilities and confirm that visitor areas and staff workspaces are ready for operation.
- Maintain a visible floor presence and model a welcoming, knowledgeable, and service focused approach.
- Reinforce established guest service, accessibility, safety, emergency, and radio communication procedures and communicate training needs to venue management.
- Monitor visitor flow, lines, capacity, group arrivals, and transitions between museum and venue areas.
- Respond to routine visitor questions and service concerns and escalate significant complaints or incidents to venue management.
- Assist with coordinating scheduled tours, school and community groups, VIP visits, special events, and periods of increased attendance.
- Inspect exhibit and public areas and promptly report exhibit damage, maintenance issues, safety hazards, accessibility concerns, or missing materials to the appropriate department.
- Support incident response, follow established emergency and security procedures, and promptly notify venue management of significant issues.
- Complete required shift records, including opening and closing checklists, visitor feedback, and incident documentation.
- Communicate operational updates through radios and other approved channels and coordinate with Box Office, Retail, Operations, Security, Cleaning, Technical, and Events teams.
- Provide direct visitor service and floor coverage when operational needs require.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Previous experience in visitor services, customer service, museums, cultural attractions, hospitality, tourism, live events, or a related public facing environment.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience, including responsibility for directing staff during active operations, is preferred.
- Ability to provide clear shift direction, coordinate coverage, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
- Strong verbal communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and recognize when an issue should be escalated to venue management.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with employees, venue leadership, community partners, and visitors.
- Strong organization, documentation, follow through, and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and service focused during complaints, incidents, emergencies, or periods of high attendance.
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Flexible availability, including weekdays, weekends, occasional evenings, holidays, school and group visits, special events, and periods of increased attendance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the museum and public areas for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate with visitors and employees in person and conduct walking tours when needed.
- Ability to perform opening, closing, inspection, and visitor service responsibilities throughout assigned areas.
- Ability to perform reasonable physical tasks associated with visitor service and museum operations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
PAY AND BENEFITS
- Hourly rate of $19.00.
