Fitness Staff- Saugus YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the fitness center and maximizing the member experience. Fitness staff are responsible for making sure all fitness center duties are completed and that the center is run efficiently while the needs of the members are being met.  Fitness Staff will also be cross trained to support the Membership Department with tours, sales and program registrations. 

Looking for an opener Fitness Staff to open the fitness floor. Shift runs from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Available days are currently Monday through Friday. Must be able to work weekends as needed. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Greets members and visitors entering the fitness center.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment in the fitness center, including wiping down used equipment and machines. 
•  Attend scheduled Fitness staff meetings and participate in training seminars.
• Assist members with programming needs and basic questions concerning the basic use and operation of equipment.
• Keep the floor clean and neat, free of clutter and dirt. 
• Move and store equipment in it's proper location. 
• Develop positive relationships with members and provide motivational support when needed.
• Ensure safe and effective workouts. Responds to, and reports, accidents and incidents.
• Conduct tours of the fitness facility to visitors and individuals interested in joining the facility.
• Must be capable of maintaining relationships with coworkers, members, and the general public.
• Ability to keep full focus on the fitness floor and members. 
• Complete all other duties assigned by supervisor.

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• CPR and First Aid
• Fitness or customer service experience preferred  
• Current fitness certification from a credible health and wellness or training organization encouraged but not necessary

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•  This position is required to work in the fitness center and instruct members, demonstrating appropriate and correct techniques.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 lbs.

  REQUIRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Appropriate Touch are required before starting to work.
• Other Trainings include Bloodborne Pathogens, Social Media and Technology, Safe Lifting, and Sexual Harassment Prevention and must be completed within 30 days of hiring.
• CPR and First Aid must be completed within 30 days of hiring.
