The mechanic is responsible for installing, repairing, and inspecting fire alarm and suppression systems, as well as performing general building maintenance. Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
Installs, repairs, and inspects smoke and fire suppressions systems; inspects, tests, and repairs fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels and peripheral equipment.
Identifies hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
Inspect, repair or replace smoke/heat detectors and sprinkler heads; repair and test dry/wet systems; tests fire alarm systems using appropriate diagnostic programs and equipment.
Performs tests on fire pumps and standpipe systems.
Extensive use of analog and digital electronics knowledge and training.
Extensive work with cathodic protection, communications and grounding systems.
Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
Performs other general building maintenance as assigned.
Works job assignments, researches and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports.
Requires working scheduled and unscheduled overtime work including areas other than respective skilled trade.

Must have ability to meet the requirements for issuance of a computer network account (favorable National Agency Check and successfully complete computer security training)
Education and/or Experience:
Any personnel performing work on fire alarm or suppression systems shall be NICET Level 2 Certified.
Four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Shall have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in healthcare facilities.
Vendor certifications and/or state licensing in alarm systems highly desired.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
