Financial IT Project Manager (5669)

SMX is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of our CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend (BAS) solution for a key federal government client. This role requires a leader who can expertly navigate the complexities of federal financial management projects, ensuring the successful deployment of a cutting-edge planning and reporting tool built on the SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) platform.

This is a unique and exciting role that allows the right candidate to use their deep understanding of federal budgeting and planning processes to help build our next generation planning application.  We are looking for an energetic and creative federal financial business analyst to take our solution to the next level and drive value for our federal customers.  You will be working alongside a talented team of designers, developers and budget SMEs to help build, enhance, and roll out our best-in-class solution.  This is a full-time position that is 100% remote and will require minimal travel <20% and requires a Public Trust clearance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from planning and execution to stakeholder management and final delivery. You will serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring that our "Shared Vision. Outcome Assured." motto is realized through meticulous planning, clear communication, and a relentless focus on achieving mission objectives.

Key Responsibilities

•    Project Leadership: Direct and manage the full lifecycle of the CFO Control Tower BAS implementation project, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality, from initiation to closure.
•    Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison between federal client stakeholders, SMX technical teams, and third-party vendors to ensure clear communication and alignment of project goals.
•    Planning & Execution: Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, outlining tasks, timelines, resource allocation, and dependencies. Proactively manage risks and develop mitigation strategies.
•    Technical Oversight: While not a hands-on technical role, maintain a strong understanding of the SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) platform and the functional aspects of the BAS solution to guide the project effectively.
•    Team Coordination: Lead a cross-functional team of business analysts, data engineers, and solution architects, fostering a collaborative environment to break down stovepipes and deliver targeted capabilities.
•    Reporting & Governance: Provide regular, transparent status reports on project progress, risks, and financial health to both client leadership and SMX executive management.
•    Quality Assurance: Ensure the final solution meets all client requirements, is delivered on time, within budget, and adheres to the highest standards of quality and federal security protocols.

Required Skills & Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Project Manager leading complex IT or financial system implementations.
•    Proven experience managing SAP ERP implementation and upgrade projects, demonstrating strong project management skills and a deep understanding of SAP systems.
•    Demonstrated experience managing projects for U.S. Federal Government agencies.
•    Strong understanding of the project management lifecycle and methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, Hybrid).
•    Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and influence diverse stakeholder groups.
•    Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Skills & Experience

•    Experience in managing an SAP ERP or SAP EPM project is highly desirable.
•    PMP Certification is highly desired.
•    Direct experience with SAP solutions, particularly SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for planning and reporting.
•    Familiarity with federal budgeting, financial planning, and reporting processes (e.g., PPBE).
•    Previous experience implementing COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) or pre-built software solutions.
•    Experience managing projects with a significant data integration or business intelligence component.

The proposed salary for this position is:$145,300—$220,000 USD
