Position Summary

As the Field Service Technician - Power Generation, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, start-up, and repair activities on diesel and gaseous power generation equipment, including generators, automatic transfer switches, engines, and related control systems. Working directly at customer sites, you will support safe and reliable equipment operation while delivering technical service and recommendations. This role involves regular travel to customer locations to support maintenance, repairs, and equipment commissioning activities.

What you will be doing

• Perform on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of diesel and gaseous power generation equipment, including engines, generator sets, automatic transfer switches, controls, and related mechanical and electrical systems.
• Commission, start up, operate, and test generator set systems while documenting performance data and assisting with issue identification and resolution.
• Travel up to 60-80% to customer sites including industrial facilities, utilities, data centers, and critical power sites, with occasional international travel and short-notice assignments as business needs require.
• Inspect equipment and failed components, document findings, maintain accurate service records, and support root cause analysis to improve equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Provide technical support to customers and service teams by promoting safe equipment operation, communicating service recommendations, and maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

Basic Requirements:

• 2 years of mechanical or technical trade school + 3 years of field service with mechanical or electrical troubleshooting experience.
• In lieu of degree, 5+ years of field service experience.
• In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent. Resident Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. 

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience servicing diesel and/or gaseous power generation equipment, including generator sets, engines, and related control systems.
• Experience with MTU engines, electronic engine controls, and engine diagnostic software.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engine systems, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, and emissions systems.
• Experience performing generator commissioning, load bank testing, and operational performance testing.
• Experience preparing service reports, documenting technical findings, and communicating repair recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.

Mental & Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range
• Ability to bend down, stand over, lay down and complete work tasks within the tight confines typical of genset enclosures and compartments and/or engine rooms for long periods of time

Pay ranges for remote employees are based on the state where the employee resides and may vary from the posted range.
