The Field Service Engineer is the face of SolarEdge to the installers, distributors, and system owners in their region, providing on-site and remote technical support for SolarEdge products in the field — troubleshooting, diagnostics, customer training, documentation, and coordination with internal teams to resolve technical issues. The role sits where our products meet the people who install and own them, which makes it one of the most consequential technical positions in the region: issues found here shape product quality, and the confidence built here determines whether installers keep specifying SolarEdge. As part of a regional team of Field Service Engineers, the role collaborates regularly with our global Product and Engineering teams and with North America's Sales, Sales Operations, Operations/Supply Chain, Technical Marketing, Codes & Compliance, Failure Analysis, and Technical Account Management functions. The role offers clear paths into senior field roles, regional technical leadership, and product and quality positions.

The right candidate brings genuine hands-on depth with PV and electrical systems, earns credibility quickly with installers and inspectors, and is fluent in both the technical and customer sides of field service, with thorough documentation of every issue they touch. They diagnose to root cause rather than clearing faults, manage their own priorities across a large territory, and know when to escalate rather than improvise. We welcome candidates with experience servicing or commissioning complex electrical systems, whether that experience comes from solar PV or another field-service discipline. Many of our most effective Field Service Engineers joined SolarEdge from our installer and distributor partners.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Technical

• Troubleshoot and diagnose to root cause: inverter and optimizer faults, arc and isolation faults, battery and backup interface behavior, EV charger commissioning, and site communication failures (cellular, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, RS485).
• Support commissioning and difficult startups: SetApp configuration, firmware alignment, grid profile and Rule 21 settings, meter and CT verification, and optimizer pairing and mapping.
• Run data-led failure analysis: use monitoring data, site records, and fleet trends to find the pattern behind a repeat failure, and feed it back to Quality and Engineering where it changes the product.
• Own the escalations remote support cannot close, through to resolution — including parts authorization and RMA release with Operations.
• Field-test alpha and beta hardware and firmware, with direct feedback to product teams before launch.

Account Management

• Be the technical face of SolarEdge for installers in the region — the person they rely on first — and surface where our tools or processes do not fit a customer's workflow.
• Integrate SolarEdge tools and processes into how an account actually works day to day — Designer, the Monitoring Portal, SetApp, and the warranty and RMA portal — so they become the way the customer operates rather than an extra step. This is the hardest and most valuable part of the role.
• Deliver hands-on training for installer crews and distributor counter staff: installation practice, commissioning, troubleshooting, and the tools above.
• Build regional expertise: market dynamics, key installers, and local inspection and permitting practice.
• Document activity, findings, and outcomes in SolarEdge CRM and the monitoring platform, including internal and customer-facing reports.

Travel

This is a home-based role covering customer sites across the territory — Bay Area, Sacramento, Central Valley and north. Candidates must live within the territory and within reasonable reach of a major airport.

Expect roughly 60% travel within the territory, mostly day trips, with about 30% of total time involving overnight stays. FSEs share a rotating on-call schedule for urgent site-down and safety issues.

Requirements

• 2+ years of field service, commissioning, or installation experience with complex electrical systems — solar PV, battery storage, EV infrastructure, electrical contracting, utility operations, or industrial/military electronics all strongly considered; direct SolarEdge product experience is preferred but not required
• Solid electrical/electronic troubleshooting: reading schematics, DC/AC measurements, meters and clamp menter, safe practice around high voltage.
• Working knowledge of NEC 690/705 and how PV and storage get interconnected, permitted, and inspected in California (Rule 21, UL 1741 SB, NEM 3.0-era storage designs).
• Able to explain a fix clearly to an installer, an inspector, or a homeowner — and write it up properly afterward in our CRM and reporting systems.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to work on rooftops and in electrical rooms with appropriate PPE.

Nice to have

• Hands-on SolarEdge experience: SetApp, Monitoring Portal, Home Hub / Energy Hub, backup interface, batteries.
• NABCEP PVIP or PVA, C-10, journeyman electrician, OSHA 10/30.
• Associate's degree or higher in a technical discipline
• Three-phase and C&I PV experience.
• Spanish language
• Basic networking: static IP, DHCP, cellular, Wi-Fi.

FAIR PAY & A JUST WORKPLACE

At SolarEdge, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $55K-75K annually. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. 

Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at SolarEdge. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
