SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

The Field Imaging Specialist (Acoustic Window Screening) is a credentialed sonographer responsible for leading and overseeing acoustic window screening (AWS) in the field to determine patient eligibility and identify the optimal implant site for the WiSE™ Leadless Endocardial Pacing System. Unlike a purely educational imaging role, this position is hands-on: the Specialist personally directs acquisition and interprets the AWS in the pre-procedural setting, documents target implant site measurements, and communicates findings that directly inform case planning and implant strategy.

The role is field based* within an assigned U.S. region and partners closely with implanting physicians, hospital sonographers and echo labs, Field Clinical Specialists (FCS), Territory Managers (TM), Training & Education, and Clinical Affairs. In addition to proctoring screens, the Specialist trains and quality-checks hospital and internal personnel on AWS technique and protocol, supporting a scalable, consistent screening process as case volume grows.

Candidates must reside within the assigned territory (preferably in Los Angeles or San Francisco, CA, or Phoenix, AZ areas) and live within one hour of a major commercial airport. 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Responsibilities

Acoustic Window Screening: Performance and Interpretation

• Lead acoustic window screens on candidate patients at hospital and clinic sites using linear and cardiac probes, in accordance with the approved AWS protocol and IFU.
• Provide guidance and oversight during the acquisition of acoustic window measurements and required patient information for WiSE System implants, ensuring the information is obtained accurately and in accordance with the approved AWS protocol and IFU. Document the acquired measurements and patient information as required.
• Determine and document viable and optimal windows; identify patients who do not qualify and clearly communicate the rationale.
• Identify and document cardiac abnormalities or anatomical findings that could affect implantation or system function; escalate to the physician and internal stakeholders as appropriate.
• Prepare timely, accurate AWS reports for implanting physicians, FCS, Territory Managers, and internal stakeholders.

Case Preparation and Procedural Readiness

• Translate screening findings into actionable pre-case guidance on target implant site selection and expected approach.
• Participate in pre-case planning discussions with the implanting physician, FCS, and Territory Manager; re-scan or confirm window selection on the day of the procedure when required.
• Provide imaging support in prep for cases, including patient positioning guidance and implant site marking consistent with the screening result.
• Partner with the account and EBR field team on screening logistics, patient scheduling, and site readiness to keep the implant schedule on track.
• Participate in post-case reviews to compare screening predictions with procedural findings and feed learnings back into protocol and training.

Training, Quality Control, and Protocol Adherence

• Train hospital sonographers, echo lab staff, physicians, and other HCPs on AWS protocol, image acquisition, and measurement technique.
• Train and assess internal field team members (FCS, TM, clinical specialists) on screening workflow and imaging fundamentals; provide direct feedback to training and field team members on in-field screening performance.
• Perform quality control review of screens completed by others; identify measurement or protocol deviations and drive correction.
• Assess readiness of sites and personnel to perform screening independently; recommend continued support, retraining, or independent status.
• Maintain compliant, accurate training and screening documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Provide structured field feedback to Training & Education, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Engineering, and R&D on screening tools, protocols, imaging workflow, and training materials.
• Support the introduction of new or additional imaging modalities as the screening program evolves.
• Identify trends in screen pass and fail rates, anatomical patterns, and workflow barriers; share insights with training, sales and clinical leadership.
• Maintain a high level of clinical, technical, and product knowledge related to the WiSE™ System and the implant procedure.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, patient privacy obligations, hospital credentialing requirements, and company policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Required Experience:

• Credentialed echocardiography sonographer (RDCS, RCS, or equivalent) with an active status and in good standing; required.
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time adult cardiac sonography experience in a hospital setting, with independent scanning responsibility.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of sonography credential and relevant clinical experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated proficiency with transthoracic imaging, thoracic and cardiac anatomy, intercostal window assessment, and precise measurement technique.
• TEE and ICE imaging experience in a hospital-based OR, Cath Lab, or EP Lab setting preferred.
• Experience training, precepting, or quality-checking other sonographers preferred.
• Medical device industry experience in a field-based, clinical applications, or clinical education role preferred.
• Familiarity with cardiac rhythm management, electrophysiology, heart failure, or CRT patient populations preferred; cardiac CT interpretation or measurement experience a plus.
• Experience scanning pediatric or adult congenital heart disease a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to scan independently and make accurate, defensible eligibility and target site determinations without on-site supervision.
• Strong patient-facing presence; able to position, coach, and reassure heart failure patients during extended scanning in multiple postures.
• Credibility with physicians and echo lab leadership; able to teach and give direct technical feedback to sonographers across all levels of skill and experience.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-growth environment where priorities shift quickly.
• Proven track record of maintaining composure and delivering results in time-sensitive or high-pressure clinical situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including clear written clinical reporting.
• Tech-savvy, with proficiency in common imaging software, DICOM viewers, CRM systems, LMS platforms, and digital tools (Microsoft Office, cloud collaboration platforms).
• Ability to meet hospital credentialing, immunization, and vendor access requirements; valid driver's license and adherence to applicable driving and state requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time, including overnight, occasional weekend, and potential international travel with flexibility to travel on short notice to support case scheduling. 
• Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Sustained scanning posture and repetitive arm, wrist, and hand motion for extended periods; ability to transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment.
• Required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 20 pounds; assist with patient positioning as needed.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor, and moderate noise levels; work in hospital, cath lab, and clinic environments.

Salary Range

$100,000 - $120,000*

*Base pay is one part of your total compensation. The salary offered will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to your experience, knowledge, skills, location, internal equity, and market alignment. Addition compensation may include bonuses and equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
