Job Description
The Federal Work Study (FWS) program is intended to provide a meaningful job experience, with direct supervision, that complements and reinforces the recipient’s educational program and/or career goals. Outcomes from the Federal Work Study program include:

POSITION: Federal Work Study – Biology and Natural Sciences
DEPARTMENT: Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aid the lab coordinator in preparing and setting up laboratory exercises
- Maintain a clean and organized lab space
- Prepare solutions and culture media
- Assist with maintenances and care of fish and plants in the aquaponic garden
- Assist with construction and preparation of grow beds or other aquaponic garden structures
- Perform minor clerical duties
- Assist with creating hallway displays and other related projects
- Complete the Federal Work Study orientation
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study and enrolled full time at the University of Saint Mary
- Interest in the sciences
- The ability to follow directions and protocols
- The ability to work independently and take initiative
- A team player with strong communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Computer skills or a willingness to learn
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
