POTENTIAL INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR INSTRUCTIONAL ASSIGNMENTS
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Concorde Education is seeking experienced and enthusiastic instructors for potential Fashion Design instructional assignments with K–12 students.

This course introduces students to the exciting world of fashion design, combining creativity, artistic expression, and practical design principles. Students explore the fashion industry while developing foundational skills in fashion illustration, color theory, textiles, garment design, trend forecasting, branding, and the fashion design process.

This is a potential independent contractor assignment, not an employee position. Contractors may choose whether to apply for, accept, decline, or ignore available opportunities. Availability of assignments varies based on school and client needs, and there is no guarantee of placement, minimum hours, or future assignments.

ASSIGNMENT SCOPE

Selected instructors may facilitate engaging, age-appropriate Fashion Design programs for elementary, middle, and/or high school students.

Depending on the specific assignment, instructors may guide students through topics such as:

Fashion illustration and sketching
Elements and principles of fashion design
Color theory and developing color palettes
Textiles, fabrics, patterns, and materials
Garment and accessory design
Fundamentals of garment construction
Mood boards and visual storytelling
Trend research and forecasting
Fashion branding and product development
Creating a fashion collection
Fashion history and influential designers
Cultural influences on fashion and design
Sustainable and ethical fashion
Fashion marketing and target audiences
Digital fashion design, where appropriate
Careers within fashion and related creative industries

Programs should emphasize creativity, experimentation, problem-solving, visual communication, and design thinking.

Depending on available materials, facilities, and the scope of the individual assignment, students may have opportunities to create physical fashion accessories, garments, or prototypes. Physical garment construction is not required for all assignments. Programs may instead focus on sketching, digital design, mood boards, fashion collections, branding, and other design-based projects.

EXAMPLE FINAL PROJECTS AND ARTIFACTS

Student work may culminate in projects such as:

Fashion Collection — A series of original clothing or accessory designs developed around a shared theme, concept, or source of inspiration.

Fashion Portfolio — A collection of fashion illustrations, technical drawings, mood boards, fabric or textile selections, color palettes, and original design concepts.

Brand Identity Project — An original fashion brand incorporating elements such as a brand name, logo, target audience, marketing concept, and proposed product line.

Fashion Industry Presentation — A research-based project examining a designer, fashion movement, cultural influence, sustainable-fashion initiative, emerging trend, or career pathway within the fashion industry.

Specific projects and instructional approaches may vary based on student age, program length, available resources, and the requirements of the individual assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Potential contractors should demonstrate relevant knowledge, professional experience, educational experience, and/or training in one or more areas related to fashion, including:

Fashion design
Fashion illustration
Apparel or textile design
Sewing or garment construction
Visual arts or design
Fashion merchandising or marketing
Costume design
Digital fashion design
Art, design, or fashion education

Experience working with children or teenagers in a classroom, after-school, camp, workshop, tutoring, coaching, or similar environment is preferred.

Instructors should be able to communicate fashion and design concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate manner and create an inclusive environment in which students with varying levels of artistic experience can participate successfully.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCES

Materials, equipment, curriculum resources, and technology vary by assignment and school location.

Contractors will receive information regarding available resources and assignment expectations before accepting an opportunity. Depending on the assignment, instructors may be asked to work with available school resources, Concorde-provided materials, or mutually agreed-upon instructional resources.

Contractors should not purchase materials or incur reimbursable expenses unless specifically authorized in writing in advance. Any approved reimbursement arrangements will be communicated separately for the applicable assignment.

COMPENSATION

Compensation varies by assignment based on factors such as location, program requirements, schedule, subject matter, and experience.

The compensation amount displayed for an available assignment represents the proposed rate for that specific opportunity. Contractors may choose whether to apply for or accept an assignment at the proposed rate and may communicate a different requested rate for consideration.

Any final compensation terms will be established before an assignment is accepted. Applying for an opportunity does not guarantee selection or assignment.

APPLICATION AND ONBOARDING

Interested instructors may create a profile and apply for available instructional opportunities that match their experience, interests, location, and availability.

Applicants considered for an initial assignment may be invited to participate in an interview or screening process. Additional onboarding, documentation, background screening, or school/site-specific clearance requirements may apply before an individual can begin an assignment.

Completion of an application, profile, interview, background check, onboarding requirement, or other screening step does not guarantee selection, placement, hours, or future assignments.

Where required by applicable law, consideration of criminal-history information will occur in accordance with applicable Fair Chance, individualized-assessment, notice, and pre-adverse-action requirements. Applicants should not provide criminal-history information unless specifically requested through the appropriate screening or legally compliant process.

Independent contractors retain the ability to determine which available opportunities they wish to pursue and may accept or decline individual assignments offered to them.
