For more than 140 years, The Family Partnership has built strong families, vital communities, and better futures for children. We fulfill our mission through counseling, education, and advocacy, primarily in the greater Minneapolis and St. Paul area. The Family Partnership was founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society to protect and serve children that were being abused or exploited. Along with a few name changes, our work has continually transformed to anticipate and address the evolving needs of families and individuals, many of whom are the most vulnerable in our community.

Wages

$24.00 per hour

Schedule

This is a regular, part-time, hybrid position that will work 18.75 hours per week. This role requires the use of a personal vehicle to travel to families’ homes.

Job Summary

The Family Partnership is seeking an Family Support Specialist to provide intensive, strengths-based home visiting services to high-risk families, including helping parents build protective factors, strengthening parent-child relationships, and achieving family goals to prevent child abuse and neglect. Using the Healthy Families America (HFA) model, this role delivers parenting education, crisis intervention, assessments, advocacy, and long-term support to promote healthy child development and family stability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of families and deliver weekly home-visiting services to families, pregnant mothers, or mothers with an infant under the age of 24 months.
• Advocate for services to families that are at risk of or engaged in children protection.
• Initiate and maintain regular long-term (up to five years) contact/support with families.
• Observe parent-child interactions through Growing Great Kids (GGK) curriculum activities.
• Provide family-centered and strength-based parenting education and services to families.
• Assist families in establishing goals and celebrating goal progress, goal completion, tier level changes, program services, and program completion.
• Schedule and conduct a minimum of 1-2 presentations per quarter to initiate and strengthen referral relationships.
• Act as a liaison to referral partners and connect with the referral source on a monthly basis or as needed to coordinate presentations, deliver program materials, and inquire about new referrals.
• Share referral updates with supervisor at scheduled one on one meetings.
• Coordinate and participate in community events by hosting tables, distributing program materials, and representing TFP in a professional and positive manner.
• Conduct outreach to identify and connect with a minimum of 3 new community agencies per quarter for the purposes of distributing program materials and raising awareness of TFP’s HFA program.

What You Bring

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage families effectively and document work accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of data entry.
• The ability to travel to clients' homes, schools, meetings with community partners, and various other locations.
• The ability to track and maintain the data necessary for program monitoring and evaluation.
• The ability to perform the assessments needed to conduct appropriate interventions and referrals.
• The ability to build respectful and positive relationships with clients of diverse cultures, groups, and languages.
• A valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet TFP’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
