Faculty, Nursing, Part-time

Overview

This person will be responsible for student instruction, and/or clinic supervision on a part-time basis in the Nursing Programs.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Required
• Master's Degree in Nursing (Desired), OR, completion of a MSN degree within the timeline established by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and submission of a written 5-year plan to do so; as well as produce a transcript yearly to demonstrate progression towards the MSN degree. Required
• Doctorate Degree (PhD, EdD, or DNP) in nursing, education, or a closely related field. Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current, active, unencumbered RN license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Required

EXPERIENCE

• One to two years of clinical nursing experience within two years of employment. Required
• Relevant teaching experience on the secondary or postsecondary level. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Required
• Developed organizational skills. Required
• Must be certified in CPR at the Basic Life Support level or higher and maintain certification. Required
• Must possess a valid driver's license. Required

Responsibilities

• Instruct, supervise, and evaluate students in the courses of the Nursing Programs.
• Supervise, guide and instruct students in nursing laboratory, simulation, and clinical areas.
• Maintain accurate written records of student performance.
• Assist other faculty and school administrators with laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
• Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines.
• Attend department/team meetings as scheduled.
• Must comply with policies and procedures of clinical sites where instructing students.
• Complete the Qualifications and Professional Development form and an updated CV annually and submit to supervisor to demonstrate completion of continuing education requirements for PA state RN license.
• Submit to supervisor a copy of nursing license upon initial hire and renewal.
• Maintain all College and clinical site compliances annually and as requested.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with curriculum review, revision, and development.

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

• Standing or walking for extended periods of time.
• Multiple physical positioning including full range of motion.
• Fine motor dexterity. Lifting up to 50 pounds.

Pay Transparency

The part-time rate for 2025/26 will be the greater of $1160 per credit or $773 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $48.31 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
