Extended Programs Counselors are expected to encourage learning and good behavior in a safe school environment for students. Some essential jobs functions include, but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assures students are properly supervised at all times.

Supervise enrichment activities.

Manage after school group games.

Coordinate snack preparation

Encourage students to participate in scheduled activities

Communicate well with students, parents, fellow counselors, and supervisor

Promote a fun attitude and positive atmosphere

Follow safety guidelines and assure student safety

Attend school and department meetings, as applicable

Maintain confidentiality of student, parent, and staff information

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1-2 years related experience in childcare

Demonstrates creativity, initiative, attention to detail and an ability to work well with a team and/or independently.

Demonstrates personal integrity, friendliness, patience, fairness, openness, non-defensiveness, sensitivity, flexibility, and enthusiasm

Ability to apply common sense in dealing with day-to-day and emergency situations.

Detail-oriented and highly organized.

Ability to respond to questions and solve problems from administrators, teachers, parents, students and visitors.

Ability to use computer technology, including program database, video chat programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required.

The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, and in a clean environment. Indoor classrooms, outdoor school yard and grounds. Exposure to student and playground noise.
