🔧 Experienced Technicians – Build Your Career in Transport Refrigeration

Transport Refrigeration, Inc. (TRI) is opening a new location in Rockford, IL and is looking for experienced Reefer Technicians / Transport Refrigeration Technicians to join our growing team.

We're also interested in experienced Diesel Technicians, Diesel Mechanics, Trailer Technicians, and Heavy-Duty Technicians who have strong mechanical and diagnostic skills and want to develop their expertise in transport refrigeration.

If you've spent several years working in the diesel, trailer, automotive, HVAC, or heavy-duty equipment industry, TRI will provide the Thermo King training and hands-on experience you need to become a skilled transport refrigeration technician.

💰 Pay & Benefits

$55,000–$100,000/year, based on experience
Monday–Friday, 1st shift
Monthly Technician incentive up to $500
Quarterly shop productivity bonus up to $1,000

🚛 What You'll Do

As a Reefer Technician, you'll diagnose, service, and repair equipment used to keep refrigerated transportation operating safely and efficiently.

Diagnose, repair, and maintain transport refrigeration units
Perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs
Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, and refrigeration systems
Service and repair APUs and diesel-powered heaters
Diagnose and repair truck cab A/C and HVAC systems
Perform electrical troubleshooting and component replacement
Perform road service calls and participate in an on-call rotation after training
Use OEM diagnostic software, test equipment, shop tools, hoists, and other service equipment
Complete repairs within standard repair times while maintaining quality and safety
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service environment

🎓 Experienced Diesel Technicians – We'll Train You in Refrigeration

You don't need years of refrigeration experience to join TRI.

If you already have a strong background as a Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Trailer Technician, Heavy-Duty Technician, HVAC Technician, or Automotive Technician, we'll provide training to help you develop specialized transport refrigeration and Thermo King skills.

You'll receive:

✅ What We're Looking For

Several years of professional experience as a technician preferred
Experience as a Reefer Technician, Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Trailer Technician, Heavy-Duty Technician, HVAC Technician, or similar
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, HVAC, trailers, or heavy-duty equipment
Refrigeration experience is preferred but not required for experienced diesel/heavy-duty technicians
High school diploma/GED or equivalent technical experience
Valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain required technician tools/toolbox
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Professional, dependable, and safety-focused
Driven to continue developing technical skills and certifications
Willingness to work overtime when needed
