What You’ll Do

As an Event Associate, you will:

• Attend assigned local events, including farmers markets, sporting events, local shops, service plazas, corporate offices, and other community venues
• Assist the Event Lead with event setup, breakdown, and daily operations
• Engage customers and community members in a friendly and professional manner
• Hand out product samples and provide information about Popcorn for the People
• Process transactions using a Point of Sale (POS) system on an iPad
• Maintain an organized and welcoming event space
• Assist in the production facility as needed
• Support inventory, product preparation, and packaging activities
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and community members
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to learn and operate a Point of Sale (POS) system on an iPad
• Reliable transportation to assigned event locations
• Ability to work a flexible per diem schedule based on event and production needs
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred

• Previous customer service, retail, sales, food service, or event experience
• Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system

Schedule

• Per Diem
• Flexible schedule based on event assignments and production needs
• Weekend and occasional evening availability may be required
• Hours vary based on business needs and scheduled events

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to walk, bend, reach, and move throughout event and production environments
• Ability to lift and carry products, supplies, and event materials
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

About Popcorn for the People

Popcorn for the People, an affiliate of Inperium, was established to create career opportunities for people with autism and other intellectual & developmental disabilities.

Founded in 2014 by a couple whose son with autism struggled to find and maintain meaningful employment, Popcorn for the People was created to address a critical employment gap for adults with autism and other intellectual & developmental disabilities.

In 2026, Popcorn for the People completed its transition to a true Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) model by opening positions to neurotypical applicants, adding new career opportunities, implementing a career ladder, and integrating mixed-neurodiverse teams supported by natural supports and fair wages.

Today, we remain steadfast in our mission to create meaningful, competitive, and integrated employment opportunities for adults with autism and other intellectual & developmental disabilities while operating a thriving gourmet popcorn business that puts people first.

Every dollar generated through our gourmet popcorn sales is reinvested directly back into Popcorn for the People to create more meaningful jobs, expand training programs, and advance competitive integrated employment opportunities for adults with autism and intellectual & developmental disabilities.

We operate production facilities in Piscataway, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and participate in community events throughout the tri-state area.
