Responsible for the transportation and relocation of heavy equipment for harvesting and farming functions. Work involves inspecting and maintaining equipment and ensuring that it is in safe working conditions.

Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude in the use of initiative. Position exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Loads and unloads equipment from trucks and secures loads to trailers to ensure safe and stable transport in compliance with safety standards

Primarily serves as a lowboy operator responsible for transporting heavy equipment; secondarily operates a yard, winch and/or dump truck as needed

Sets up and dismantles equipment

Maintains equipment records

Performs daily pre- and post-trip inspections of company equipment to ensure it is in good and safe working condition

Conducts routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and ensuring all safety equipment is functional

Reports any accidents, mechanical issues or damage to company equipment promptly to the supervisor

Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals

Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Follows organizational and public safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience operating heavy equipment; 

OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual – English and Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Knowledge of heavy equipment mechanics 

Knowledge of oversized load requirements

Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to equipment operation

Skill in using mathematics required for the work

Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather

Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment

Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather

Ability to operate a manual transmission, lowboy trailer, and yard, winch and/or dump trucks 

Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 

Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers

Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a service-oriented team

Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, orally and in writing

Ability to follow public safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
