Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA)

As a key member of our medical practice, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive emergency care to patients, working closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure effective patient management. Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and physical exams of patients in the emergency department.
• Administer diagnostic tests, interpret results, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide acute care for traumatic and medical emergencies.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient care and service delivery.
• Document patient care activities accurately and promptly in electronic medical records.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-discharge care.
• Assist in emergency procedures and manage critical cases.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

**Position Specification: Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (PA/NP)**

**Reason for Coverage:** Increased patient census and staffing shortages.  

**Coverage Duration:** Immediate start for a period of 13 weeks, with the potential for extension as necessary.  

**Work Environment:** Emergency Department/Fast Track.  

**Shift Requirements:** Monday through Sunday, from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM, consisting of four ten-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend with designated days off during the week.  

**Daily Duties:** The selected candidates will manage lower acuity patients in an acute care setting, specifically within a 6-8 bed unit of the Emergency Department (Fast Track). They are expected to attend to an average of 8-12 patients daily, with potential variations in patient volume based on circumstances.  

**Call Schedule:** No on-call responsibilities required.  
**Patient Volume/Census:** An estimated 10-20 patients per day on average.  

**Team Composition:** Each shift will include physicians, other Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, as well as Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses.  

**Electronic Medical Records System:** EPIC.  

**Required Certifications:** Candidates must be board certified and possess a California Controlled Substance Course Certificate (mandatory at time of presentation), as well as current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
