Overview

Summary/ ObjectiveThe Project Manager I – Turnaround Group is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and financialperformance of industrial cleaning projects supporting refinery and petrochemical turnarounds, shutdowns, andoutages. This position provides leadership throughout the full project lifecycle—from pre-bid planning, estimatingsupport, and resource strategy through mobilization, field execution, project closeout, and post-job review.The Project Manager I is accountable for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, withinestablished budgets, and in accordance with customer specifications and contractual requirements. This roleoversees project resources, workforce performance, equipment utilization, cost controls, scheduling, andoperational execution while proactively identifying and addressing issues that could affect safety, quality,schedule, or profitability.Serving as a primary point of contact for customer leadership, the Project Manager I builds and maintains strongcustomer relationships, communicates project status and changing requirements, coordinates scope adjustments,and works closely with internal operations and field leadership to ensure successful project delivery. This positionplays a key role in driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, workforce performance, and overallproject profitability.All work must be performed in accordance with company and customer procedures, safety standards, contractualrequirements, and applicable environmental regulations.The position requires a minimum of seven years of experience in industrial services, oil and gas, petrochemical, ora related industry, including at least three years of experience managing refinery or petrochemical turnarounds,shutdowns, or outages. Responsibilities

Lead bid preparation, estimating, and proposal development for turnaround projects.2. Review client work scopes, specifications, drawings, and schedules.3. Develop execution plans including, but not limited to, staffing models (Field Supervisor I/II, Crew LeaderI/II, Equipment Operator I/II), equipment requirements and logistics, and cost estimates and riskassessments.4. Participate in client planning meetings and turnaround readiness reviews.5. Align internal resources (labor, equipment, subcontractors, etc.) with project timelines.6. Oversee all field operations during turnaround events.7. Ensure proper deployment of Field Supervisors and crew structures, and equipment assets and supportpersonnel.8. Monitor progress against schedule (critical path awareness).9. Proactively adjust staffing, sequencing, and resources based on field conditions.

10. Drive productivity across multiple crews and work fronts.11. Establish and enforce a strong safety culture across all turnaround activities.12. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, client safety requirements, and company policies and procedures.13. Review and monitor safety metrics (incidents, near misses, observations).14. Support incident investigations and corrective actions.15. Ensure high-risk activities such as confined space, hydro blasting, and line breaking are properly managed.16. Own full P&L responsibility for the turnaround project.17. Track and control labor hours, overtime, equipment utilization and costs, consumables and subcontractor expenses.18. Monitor job cost vs. budget and forecast final cost.19. Identify and capture change orders and out-of-scope work.20. Ensure accurate billing, timekeeping, and cost reporting.21. Serve as the primary point of contact for client turnaround leadership.22. Participate in daily coordination meetings, shift turnover meetings, and progress reviews.23. Communicate project status, risks, and performance transparency.24. Resolve field issues, scope changes, and escalations quickly and professionally.25. Build and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat work.26. Lead and support Field Supervisors and frontline leadership teams.27. Ensure proper span of control and crew structure across shifts.28. Drive accountability for performance, safety, and schedule adherence.29. Support workforce planning for 24/7 operations (day/night coverages).30. Mentor supervisors and develop leadership bench strength.31. Ensure sufficient equipment availability and uptime through coordination with Evergreen Industrial Services Turnaround Group execution staff.32. Oversee mobilization and demobilization planning.33. Monitor critical equipment performance and redundancy needs.34. Anticipate and mitigate potential equipment-related delays.35. Maintain accurate and timely reporting, including, but not limited to, daily cost tracking, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and progress verses schedule.36. Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.37. Ensure proper documentation for billing, change orders, and project closeout.38. Ensure all work is completed to client satisfaction.39. Oversee demobilization and site cleanup.40. Reconcile costs and finalize project financials.41. Conduct post-turnaround reviews (lessons learned).42. Identify continuous improvement opportunities for future events.43. Maintain professionalism, sound judgment, and focus while working under compressed schedules, changing priorities, adverse conditions, and other demands common to turnaround environments.44. Attend and successfully complete all training, certifications, orientations, and other requirements established by the Company or customer.45. Meet all applicable Company and customer requirements, including required drug and alcohol testing and background screening.46. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position will have extensive supervisory responsibilities.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a petrochechemical / refinery environment. Exposure to cold working conditions during winter months and hot working conditions during the summer months. Exposure to noise, workers must wear protecting hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. In an emergency situation, exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur and the use of a respirator is required. All employees will be required to be fit tested for the various respirators used as well as the ability to successfully pass a pulmonary function test (PFT).

Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The position of a Project Manager I – Turnaround Group can be extremely physical at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required, and for long periods of time to bend, stoop, walk, climb, squat, reach, kneel, push/pull, stand, sit, hand strength and dexterity. A Project Manager I – Turnaround Group will frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift more than 51 pounds. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must be able to work at heights and be able to climb ladders and stairways and work off platforms. Move about on hands and feet, bending body downward and forward bending leg and spine- working in a bent over position. Ability to verbally communicate alarms or warnings clearly, concisely, loudly, and quickly. Position Type/ Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are variable/ project dependent. Over-time work is common and may be required as job duties demand.

TravelTravel is expected. Extensive travel throughout U.S. and overnight stay for extended periods of time may be required of this position.

Qualifications

Required Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED. Seven or more years of experience in industrial cleaning within refining, petrochemical, or oil and gas facilities. Three or more years of supervisory experience, preferably in turnaround/shutdown environments. Proven experience managing large field crews and multiple work scopes. Microsoft Office Suite of computer software knowledge mandatory. Strong understanding of financial P&L tools. Strong knowledge of hydro blasting, chemical cleaning, vacuum services, and tank cleaning. Must have a valid TWIC and valid Driver’s License. Safety Essentials.Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study. OSHA 30, NCCER, Confined Space Entry certification, HAZWOPER (24 or 40), project management training (PMP or equivalent).
