Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Educator in Critical Care in accordance with our mission and core values of integrity, compassion, collaboration, and excellence, this position is established to serve as a consultant/resource professional by providing staff development expertise as an educator, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher, ensuring all educational initiatives are strategically aligned with the Critical Care Services operational goals and facility leadership priorities. The Critical Care Educator supports the development of the direct-care nurse and fosters nursing excellence through new knowledge and the delivery of evidence based practice. Facilitation of the educational process includes assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development, in close collaboration with the Critical Care Services Leadership Team.
The Clinical Nurse Educator also serves as a role model for professional behavior. Teamwork is a vital component of patient care; therefore, incumbents will be expected to demonstrate their commitment through effective collaborative efforts.

- Assesses educational needs through various formal and informal methods, in close consultation with the Critical Care Services Management teams and staff, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and challenges.
- Conducts evaluations of all projects and initiatives for desired outcomes, sharing findings and proposing revisions to the Critical Care Services facility leadership teams. Revises future work goals,methods and processes to support evidence-based practice and quality care in collaboration with market leadership.
- Ensures educational activities are congruent with nursing strategies, goals, values and vision and are tailored to meet the specific needs and operational mandates of the critical care/emergency services departments and facility and market leader.
- Annually conducts educational needs assessment using a variety of methods, presenting findings and proposed educational plans to Critical Care/Emergency Services leadership team for feedback and approval..
- Collaborate with the market leaders of Critical Care Services to ensure 100% implementation of all Critical Care safety initiatives, and other identified patient safety projects.
- Develop, implement, and facilitate learning opportunities and drills for the Critical Care including topics such as Mock Codes, disaster preparedness, and critical incident simulations.
Job Requirements
Required
- Three years recent acute care experience in critical care (ICU) nursing practice with demonstrated leadership experience
- Current and Active Registered Nurse: CA
- BSN Required
- AHA Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS-I)
Preferred
- Minimum one year in the advanced practice role in specialty nursing practice., upon hire
