Job Summary 

Under the supervision and direction of the MHS Manager or Lead Ambassador, the Emergency Department Support Team helps patients and visitors find their way between triage and pediatric emergency overflow areas. Emergency Department Support Team members are also responsible for basic cleaning and rounding in the Emergency Department lobby to assist patients and guests with inquiries, wheelchairs, luggage, directions, hospital promotions/campaigns, and initial questions regarding the Emergency Department, hospital facility, and service offerings. Team members represent the hospital’s values by creating a welcoming, safe, and professional environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Greet patients and visitors with a friendly, scripted message upon arrival and departure from Triage to any of the Pediatrics overflows. 

Utilizes proper safe patient handling techniques. 

Safely assist and escort guests from triage to pediatric overflow areas 

Open doors, provide wheelchairs, help carry bags, and offer general guidance around the hospital 

Continual rounding throughout the patient lobby and hallway bed areas to provide general services to patients and families, such as providing blankets, pillows, etc., and can include food or drink with nurse approval. 

Knowledge of the facility procedures and guest-related information including facility general information, general event information, taxi/transportation assistance, airport information, and emergency codes. 

Responsible for basic cleaning within the Emergency Department and maintaining a safe, clean, and neat work environment by following standards and procedures. 

Responds to safety hazards according to facility procedures including water on the floor, objects inadvertently blocking doors, electrical cords removed or taped, and misplaced furniture. 

Immediately report any accidents to the manager on duty. 

Maintains strict confidentiality related to work information in accordance with HIPAA. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: Qualification and Requirements 

High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent experience. 

Legally allowed to work in the United States 

Able to meet all pre-employment requirements, including background and health screenings 

Able to speak, read, and write English fluently. 

Must meet all required health or vaccination standards 

Professional attitude, with strong communication and people skills 

Passion for customer service and attention to detail. 

Physical Requirements 

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk, see, and hear. 

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.   

Must be able to push or pull wheelchairs with people weighing between 100–350 pounds, sometimes over long distances 

The ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours such as weekends, holidays, and longer shifts is sometimes required.
