Duty Schedule:

Monday – Friday; 8 AM – 5 PM; Weekly schedule including weekends and after-hours as needed.

Summary/Objective of Position:

Candidate shall perform all duties of a faculty member faithfully and satisfactorily in accordance with the highest level of professional standards and shall perform the duties and responsibilities at the same level of professionalism as set forth by the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and also written in the position description provided by the college.

The essential functions of this position include the following:

• Teaching, student advising and creative activities, committee assignments and community service.
• These responsibilities may include involvement in off-campus activities, evening or weekend duties, as well as student recruitment and placement efforts.

Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom and laboratory;

• Maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught;
• Preparing teaching materials, conferring with students on course materials;
• Directing research and developing portfolios;
• Directing group studies and practicum;
• Reviewing written examinations and papers
• Evaluating artistic presentations;
• Supervising independent study projects; and
• Supervisor or teaching internship

Student advising includes time spent meeting and mentoring students regarding academic, curricular, and career matters. Research activities include efforts to create and add knowledge in a field of study, including advancement of theories and principles. Expanding and interpreting existing ideas, theories, and principles. Professional service means using academic and professional expertise to serve your profession, the community, the state, the nation, and the world.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum:

• MA in Early Childhood Education or Education

Preferred:

• EdD or PhD

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of the most current trends, issues, innovations, and practices in the field of expertise, including teaching modalities, teaching strategies, syllabus management, curriculum development and management, assessment management, and lesson planning.
• Knowledge of early childhood physical growth and development such as cognitive growth and development, social-emotional growth and development, and physical development such as gross and fine motor skills.

Skills:

• Effective computer skills, online teaching skills, classroom management skills, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a small, highly active, dedicated, and supportive group of colleagues.

Abilities:

• Ability to tailor lesson plans to fit different learning styles of students with varying backgrounds and experiences.
• Ability to build, maintain, and manage courses in the Canvas Learning Management System.
• Ability to develop, explain, and enforce educational policies.
• Ability to work with people from divergent cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Be able to explain and enforce educational policies.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

• Faculty shall be able to travel to worksites of assignments at multiple campuses.

Other Requirement(s):

• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Have the ability to speak and write Navajo text
