Diversity Innovation Grant (DIG) Program Academic Support Coordinator

The Urban Coast Institute, in the School of Science, seeks a temporary part-time Diversity Innovation Grant (DIG) Program Academic Support Coordinator to provide flexible, as-needed support for activities associated with the Diversity Innovation Grant (DIG); anticipated to begin in September 2026 and end in May 2027. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, students, and project partners to support the implementation of grant activities focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, environmental justice, and socially responsive social work education and practice.

This position is designed for an MSW professional who can provide applied project support during periods of increased grant activity. The Coordinator will contribute to student and community engagement, educational programming, resource development, project coordination, and dissemination activities. The role is intended to complement the work of faculty and student grant team members while bringing an alumni and professional social work perspective to the project.

 This is a hybrid position. 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Coordinator may provide support in the following areas based on project needs:

• Assist with planning and implementation of DIG-sponsored workshops, webinars, educational programs, meetings, and community engagement activities.
• Support outreach and communication with Monmouth University students, alumni, community organizations, practitioners, and other project partners.
• Help identify and develop opportunities that connect social work students with community-based organizations, practitioners, and initiatives addressing diversity, equity, environmental justice, and related social issues.
• Assist with development and adaptation of educational resources, training materials, toolkits, presentations, and other grant products for social work audiences.
• Provide an applied MSW practitioner perspective to the development of grant programming and educational materials.
• Support student engagement in grant activities, including helping students connect classroom learning with community-based practice and professional opportunities.
• Assist faculty and project leadership with coordination of grant activities, timelines, communications, and deliverables.
• Participate in project meetings and planning sessions as requested.
• Support documentation of grant activities, participation, outcomes, and accomplishments for internal reporting and future dissemination.
• Assist with dissemination of project resources and outcomes to social work educators, practitioners, students, alumni, and community partners.
• Complete additional short-term grant-related assignments consistent with the Coordinator's expertise and the goals of the DIG initiative.

Hours and Scope of Work

This is a temporary part-time position anticipated to begin in September 2026 and end in May 2027. Hours will vary according to grant activities, project deadlines, events, and deliverables. Specific assignments, anticipated hours, timelines, and expected products will be established in consultation with DIG project leadership.

The Coordinator should be available to provide targeted support during periods of increased project activity while maintaining flexibility in scheduling and workload.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Professional or community-based social work experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, and culturally responsive social work practice.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, community partners, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and complete time-sensitive assignments with limited supervision.
• Comfort working in a flexible, project-based environment.

 Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate of the Monmouth University School of Social Work.
• Familiarity with Monmouth University's social work programs, students, alumni network, or community partnerships.
• Experience with community engagement, program development, student programming, training, or professional education.
• Knowledge of environmental justice, climate justice, ecosocial practice, or other emerging areas of socially and environmentally responsive social work.
• Experience developing educational materials, facilitating groups or workshops, coordinating events, or supporting grant-funded initiatives.
