Your Role at SafelyYou
SafelyYou is looking for a builder — a Director of FP&A who will own and shape the financial

planning function at a pivotal moment in our growth. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role reporting directly to the VP of Finance. You will be the primary architect of how we plan, forecast, and measure financial performance across a business with both SaaS and hardware dimensions.

We’re looking for someone who can translate numbers into stories to drive decisions — who understands that the value of FP&A is not in the outputs it produces, but in the actions it enables.

You will work directly with the CEO, COO, and department heads to ensure financial clarity drives better resource allocation, faster decision-making, sharper forecasting, and stronger operating discipline.

You will inherit an existing foundation — financial models, budgets, and reporting packages are in place— and will have the opportunity to assess, refine, and, where necessary, rebuild them, maturing the function to match our next stage of growth.

This is a director-level individual contributor role to start, with the understanding that, as the function is built out, external or internal resources could be added to build out a small team over the next few years.

Salary Range: $170,000 to $190,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning

• Lead the annual budget and mid-year budget refresh processes across all functions, with clear ownership of planning dimensions by cost center, headcount, product line, and customer type

• Develop and maintain a long-range financial plan that connects strategic objectives to operating assumptions

• Work with senior leaders to set sales and revenue targets by product, for both contracted and utilization models

• Partner with HR and Operations to support headcount planning by building models for both operational and COGS resource allocation, evaluating short-term and long-term trade-offs

Forecasting

• Partner with sales and business development to build robust pipeline and sales forecast models, providing operational teams with timely visibility into volume, timing, and resource requirements

• Maintain a risk and opportunity tracker updated monthly, surfacing material variances before they land in the actuals

• Build and maintain SaaS and hardware-specific forecasting models incorporating ARR, net revenue retention, churn, implementation pipeline, and inventory purchase and deployment schedules

Performance Reporting

• Design and own the monthly management reporting package for internal leadership and quarterly board decks

• Own the FP&A side of the monthly close — coordinating with Accounting on accruals, reconciling actuals against forecast, and ensuring a clean, validated financial view is in place before management reporting is distributed

• Establish a single, authoritative source of truth for key metrics and build and maintain dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into business performance

• Assess the current FP&A technology landscape, identify and implement best-in-class tools, and drive automation and efficiency across planning, forecasting, and reporting through great tooling and AI

Performance Analysis

• Translate financial variances into root cause analysis with clear operating implications — drilling from board-level numbers down to the specific business unit, product, or customer driver

• Connect financial findings to recommended actions, not just observations

The Ideal Candidate: 
Experience

• 7+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role

• Required: experience in a SaaS business with recurring revenue metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, gross margin)

• Required: experience in a business with a hardware or physical product component — understanding of COGS, installation economics, and inventory dynamics

• Required: startup or high-growth environment experience; comfort operating without established processes, building from scratch, and prioritizing ruthlessly

Skills

• Exceptional financial modeling capability — three-statement models, scenario analysis, and driver-based forecasting

• Strong command of SaaS metrics and unit economics

• Experience building or improving FP&A infrastructure: data definitions, model architecture, reporting workflows, and automation

• Expert level in both Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel

• Bias toward clarity and action — produces analysis that is easy to comprehend and changes decisions, not analysis that gets filed

• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize across competing demands in a lean team environment
