You Will

Please note, this role is hybrid, based in either midtown NYC or Washington DC, with 1-2 days per week in office.

The Director, National Partnerships works with Corporate Affairs leadership to proactively identify, develop, and secure high-impact partnerships that advance GSUSA’s mission, expand relevance, and drive measurable value across the Girl Scout Movement. This role is highly external-facing, focused on cultivating senior-level relationships and originating partnership opportunities across corporate, philanthropic, nonprofit, media, and cultural sectors.

The Director leads the development of a national partnership portfolio aligned with organizational priorities, including membership growth, adult engagement, brand visibility, and program innovation. The role also serves as a strategic advisor and collaborator across internal teams, ensuring partnerships are scalable, and aligned with GSUSA’s mission, while supporting leadership through insights, recommendations, and external engagement

Essential Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a national partnerships strategy aligned to GSUSA’s mission, brand, and organizational priorities
• Audit and maintain a landscape assessment of existing relationships, as well as current and past partnerships
• Identify, vet, and solicit high-impact partners across corporate, nonprofit, philanthropic, and cultural sectors
• Originate and cultivate senior-level external relationships to build a strong partnership pipeline
• Design and structure partnerships and negotiate business terms, working with legal colleagues who lead contract drafting, review, and execution
• Manage a portfolio of partnerships, including prioritization, lifecycle management, renewal, and expansion
• Ensure every agreement includes an activation plan defining what GSUSA delivers, what councils need in order to activate, and what the partner communicates to their own network, and how both parties are held accountable
• Work with internal teams — Program, Marketing, Membership, Fund Development, Licensing, Strategy & Planning and others — to design partnerships that are additive and aligned
• Build the intake, evaluation, and tracking system for national partnerships, including the pipeline of council-sourced opportunities
• Prepare analyses and recommendations for the Executive Management Team and National Board, and report partnership priorities and progress to council CEOs
• Represent GSUSA externally at industry events, convenings, and partner engagements
• Monitor external trends and partnership innovations to inform strategy and identify opportunities
• Collaborate with communications partners to align partnership storytelling and external positioning with brand strategy
• Attend evening and weekend events as required

You Need

• Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, BBA, etc.) from four-year college or university or equivalent
• Minimum 8+ years' demonstrated experience originating and managing partnerships in corporate, nonprofit, or related sectors
• Knowledge of partnership strategy, business development, and relationship management practices
• Understanding of cross-functional collaboration within complex, matrixed organizations
• Firm understanding of legal considerations, including compliance and intellectual property, that arise in partnership considerations

Preferred Knowledge & Expertise

Experience in mission-driven or nonprofit organizations

Exposure to national-level partnerships and cross-sector collaboration

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with partnership tracking tools, CRM systems, and analytics platforms

Additional Preferences

Demonstrated ability to engage senior executives and external partners as a trusted advisor

Experience working in federated or highly matrixed organizational environments

SALARY RANGE: $88,000 - $160,000

This represents the present low and high end of the pay range for this position. This pay range is only applicable to NYC Metro-based employees, on a hybrid schedule.  Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time, hybrid position, based in our office in midtown NYC or Washington DC. Occasional evenings and weekends work may be required as job duties demand.
