The Role: 

In this role you will contribute to the creative work behind IonQ's financial narrative: quarterly investor presentations, financial conferences, investor days, and Board materials. You will partner closely with the CFO, Head of Investor Relations, the centralized IonQ Brand team, and technical leaders across the company to make complex information intuitive and persuasive.

The ideal candidate blends strong design craft with a technical mindset, narrative and editorial instincts, and the ability to focus and execute quickly in high-stakes environments with sophisticated financial audiences.

Responsibilities:

Keynote storytelling and design

Contribute to the creative design and visual storytelling behind IonQ's financial narratives. Craft story-driven, best-in-class presentations for the CFO and senior executives — from the boardroom to the conference stage — for audiences that are both financially and technically sophisticated.

Executive-level collaboration

Partner closely with the CFO, Head of Investor Relations, and the centralized IonQ Brand team. Present to and collaborate with senior executives at the highest level of the organization. Navigate feedback with grace, work comfortably with ambiguity, and iterate quickly.

Data visualization

Translate complex financial data and concepts into clean, compelling slides — charts that make the point without decoration, and layouts that let the number do the work. Help investors and analysts understand technical roadmaps, performance metrics, and financials at a glance.

Technology and financial storytelling

Craft narratives that connect IonQ's technology milestones to messaging for investors and financial analysts. Grasp unfamiliar technical content quickly and distill it into meaningful, consumable visuals.

Investor day and event design

Create a cohesive experience across every touchpoint of IonQ's investor events — presentation content, invitations and emails, web and IR portal assets, signage, and on-site materials — all meeting IonQ's brand standards.

Design operations and brand standards

Build and maintain templates, chart libraries, and common systems that let non-designers on the IR and Finance teams produce on-brand materials independently.

AI-forward practice

Be curious and proactive about using AI for design work — prompting, efficiency, and learning on the fly as tools evolve, while holding a consistently high quality bar.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of professional experience in visual design, presentation design, or visual communication in a fast-paced environment.
• A portfolio demonstrating design fundamentals — typography, layout, color sensibility — across presentation, digital, and print media, and the ability to articulate the rationale behind your process.
• Exceptional proficiency in PowerPoint presentation design. Mastery of Figma. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience presenting creative proposals and rationale to senior executives, and comfort navigating stakeholder feedback and ambiguity.
• Ability to grasp unfamiliar technical or financial content and distill it into clear visuals.
• Excellent time and project management skills: the ability to triage competing priorities and handle high volume without sacrificing quality.
• Familiarity with AI principles for design: prompting, efficiency, and responsible use.
• Demonstrated discretion with sensitive and confidential information, including material non-public information.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience supporting Investor Relations, corporate finance, or a public company's earnings cycle.
• Motion graphics capability in After Effects or comparable tools.
• Experience with Claude Design, and demonstrated use of AI tools beyond image generation — accessibility checks, design variations, efficiency tooling.
• Experience with design systems: production and maintenance of asset libraries and documentation.
• Strong editorial instinct — the ability to write or refine headlines, captions, and short-form copy that strengthen the visual narrative.
• Executive presentation coaching: tone, pace, scripting, stage presence.
• Familiarity with web and UI/UX principles, including responsiveness and accessibility, and with CMS tools.
• Passion for emerging technology and financial communication.

The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.

If this role has a commission structure, the compensation range below just reflects the base compensation range.

Wage Transparency:$176,000—$225,000 USD

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
