About The Role

G2 is the world's largest and most trusted software marketplace, serving 200+ million software buyers a year across 2,000+ categories, including teams at every Fortune 500 company. All of that buying activity creates a data asset nobody else has: verified reviews, ratings, and real-time buyer intent that reveal where software markets are moving. Institutional investors already use G2 data to source, diligence, and track software investments. This team was created in 2022 to sell one of our most strategic and complex solutions, Data Solutions.

We are hiring a Director, Data Solutions to own this business end to end: revenue, clients, team, and product direction. It is a player-coach role for a commercially driven leader who wants to build, not inherit.

What You Will Own

• Revenue: own the number. Source and close strategic opportunities across hedge funds, asset managers, private equity, venture capital, and family offices. Build a predictable pipeline with disciplined pricing, packaging, and forecasting

• Clients: be the trusted advisor to senior investment professionals and data strategists. Serve as executive sponsor for strategic accounts and drive adoption, retention, and expansion

• Team: lead and coach a sales and account support team, modeling prospecting through close, and evolve the org as the business scales

• Product: translate investor workflows and market feedback into a clear roadmap with our product, data, and engineering teams

Minimum Qualifications:

• 8+ years in alternative data, financial information services, or data solutions

• 5+ years selling data or analytics products to institutional investors

• 5+ years leading sales, account management, or client success teams, with a coaching mindset

• A trusted network across hedge funds, asset managers, private equity, venture capital, and family offices, and fluency in how investors evaluate, buy, and use alternative data

• A record of originating and closing complex enterprise deals and beating revenue targets

• Product instincts: you convert client insight into what gets built next

• An owner's mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, fast to test ideas, quick to build structure where none exists
