Director, BI & Analytics

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, BI & Analytics based in United States.

The Director, BI & Analytics will lead the development of a scalable, trusted enterprise reporting and analytics function across a complex, multi-unit services organization. This role will define what the business measures while shaping how data and insights are delivered to executives, field leaders, and functional teams. You will lead a reporting transformation focused on establishing consistent KPI definitions, connecting operational metrics to financial results, and creating actionable analytical frameworks. The position combines business and financial acumen with BI architecture, product thinking, and technical leadership. You will work across multiple divisions and technology environments, including an ERP transition, while ensuring reporting remains consistent and scalable. With significant latitude to shape the function, this leader will drive adoption, governance, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Accountabilities:

• Develop and continuously evolve a scalable enterprise BI and reporting architecture across divisions, regions, and locations.
• Lead the reporting transformation by consolidating conflicting metric definitions into a governed framework aligned with financial results and business standards.
• Design analytical models and definitions that remain reliable through source-system changes and support consistent reporting across divisions using different ERP environments.
• Establish executive, regional, branch, and functional reporting with clear drill-down capabilities from business results to underlying performance drivers.
• Build a governed self-service analytics environment that balances accessibility, consistency, data integrity, and usability.
• Rationalize existing reports and tools by eliminating duplication and low-value reporting while improving the overall reporting experience.
• Evaluate the current BI technology environment against alternative platforms and recommend a scalable technology strategy, toolset, and migration roadmap.
• Establish standards for KPI definitions, dashboard development, governance, deployment, access, and reporting lifecycle management.
• Build integrated analytical frameworks connecting operating activity to revenue, profitability, and broader financial performance.
• Develop reporting across marketing funnels, sales conversion, sold work, cancellations, backlog, scheduling, production, labor, capacity, utilization, routing, customer mix, service channels, pricing, volume, mix, and timing.
• Partner with FP&A to align operational reporting with actuals, budgets, forecasts, and prior-year performance.
• Develop pacing and forecasting views that incorporate production days, holidays, weekends, seasonality, weather, backlog, and year-to-go expectations.
• Create diagnostic reporting that helps leaders understand what changed, why it changed, and what actions may be required.
• Partner with IT and enterprise architecture teams to ensure BI solutions align with data standards, system integrations, enterprise architecture, and technology strategy.
• Define analytical data models and semantic structures that support consistent reporting across organizational, service, customer, channel, and time dimensions.
• Maintain sufficient technical depth to interrogate data, validate business logic, review SQL and data models, challenge technical approaches, and build directly when needed.
• Lead internal or external technical delivery teams and translate Finance and Operations priorities into a disciplined development roadmap.
• Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, converting business questions into actionable specifications and technical outputs into insights that operators can use.
• Establish strong data-quality, QA, deployment, and governance practices.
• Leverage AI and emerging development tools to improve analytical productivity and development efficiency.
• Drive adoption through stakeholder engagement, training, communication, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• 8–12+ years of experience across business intelligence, analytics, FP&A, or related functions, including leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise BI and reporting environments.
• Experience working in a multi-unit, multi-location, or operationally complex organization; experience in field services, home services, route-based services, retail, healthcare services, or similar environments is preferred.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and the ability to connect operational performance to financial results.
• Strong SQL and advanced Excel capabilities, with the ability to independently investigate data and validate analytical logic.
• Significant experience with modern BI platforms such as Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent technologies.
• Working knowledge of dimensional modeling, semantic layers, data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud data stacks, including Snowflake or an equivalent data warehouse, dbt or comparable transformation tools, and managed ingestion platforms such as Fivetran.
• Experience maintaining reporting continuity through ERP or core-system migrations is preferred.
• Experience directing technical development teams, whether internal, external, or contracted.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into clear, buildable technical specifications.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to present concise conclusions and recommendations to senior leaders and operating teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and product-thinking capabilities, with a focus on building reporting that drives practical business decisions.
• Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to adopt AI and emerging analytics and development tools.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical and analytical work when required.

• Salary range of $175,000–$200,000 per year.
