NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through innovative, cutting-edge social and recreational programs to develop a positive Jewish identity. NCSY inspires Jewish teens through informal Jewish education, retreats, and summer programs. NCSY empowers teens through leadership development and guidance to become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for people with disabilities, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

Position Summary:

The NCSY 4G Director will serve as a role model and provide informal Jewish education to girls, designed to connect, inspire, and ultimately empower them to become well-rounded Jewish young adults. This is done through creating the culture of NCSY, which means upward movement and growth for teens and for the community. The 4G Director will be involved with the communities and schools in the area, as one of the liaisons for NCSY, building key relationships with community leaders. The 4G Director will identify opportunities to continue relationships with teens from NCSY summer programs. The 4G Director will ensure there is regular programming, including Shabbos events and a 4G Shabbaton.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement a year-long calendar of weekly activities, social events, and holiday programming for frum girls in local schools, can include but is not limited to Shabbos onegs, weekly chaburahs, etc.
• Develop and foster a community of Jewish teens that have bought into the NCSY “culture,” including creating and empowering a teen board for 4G programming.
• Recruit post-high school volunteers (“advisors”).
• Engage and support advisors by making advisor roles meaningful and relevant, ensuring they feel valued, connected, and inspired in their roles.
• Spend time in schools and meet at least one designated day a week working with girls in the area.
• Create, coordinate, and run one large annual girls’ Shabbaton (generally a full-scale hotel Shabbaton, with the assistance of Regional Operations staff).
• Run monthly Shabbos events throughout the year.
• Recruit for NCSY summer programs, with a specific focus on the all-girls programs.
• Attend weekly staff meetings with the Midwest NCSY team.
• Enter all relevant data for attendance at events.
• Partner with schools to assess and implement curriculum and programming that mutually benefits the school and NCSY (tefillah workshops, etc.).
• Run programs for seventh- and eighth-grade girls (4G Jr.).
• Create community awareness of the 4G program, including but not limited to PR, social media, and regular email communications.
• Fundraise on NCSY’s Day of Giving.
• Communicate regularly with local 4G donors through newsletters and updates.
• Manage the 4G Assistant Director, whose role is to recruit, plan, and support local events.
   

Salary:

The salary range for this part-time position is $20,000–$40,000, commensurate with experience.
