Direct Support Professional - Rochester, NY

Job Details: Job Location: Rochester, NY - Rochester , NY 14606, Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Salary Range: $16.00 - $25.00Hourly, Job Shift: Any, Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, Advocates, Inc. is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a friendly and busy young man with a developmental disability. He is currently looking for someone to assist with working on his goals, both at home and in his community. 

Goals 

To be more independent: Increase skills for independent living, along with how to identify and respond to safety issues 

To be more involved in community life: Participate in hobbies, clubs, or classes of interest 

Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience. 

Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day’s times, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address. 

Days / Hours:  

Monday - Thursday: (3pm-7pm) 

Pay rate: $25 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per  

hour.

Background checks required
Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred.
Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.
Other: The individual does not have the authority to set the staff salary in this model. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
