Direct Support Professional - North Syracuse

Job Details: Job Location: North Syracuse - North Syracuse, NY 13212, Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Salary Range: $16.00 - $23.00Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, Advocates is seeking a mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support an awesome, caring man that is very goal oriented who has a developmental disability. He is looking for a mentor to support him with working on his goals in his home and out in the community. He is seeking a DSP who is reliable, patient and willing to support with physical assistance. He is looking for someone that will assist with ADLs, from getting him up and going for the day, dressing, and supporting with meals. Days would consist of attending places/participating in activities he regularly enjoys doing in his home and/or out in the community, or attending appointments with him to provide support and company on other days. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities and providing personal care is preferred for this individual. Please respond with resume or summary of experience.

Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.

Hours and days of work

Monday, Wednesday, Friday (8 AM - 4:30 PM); Tuesday, Thursday (9 AM - 4:30 PM)

Pay rate: $23 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.

Location: North Syracuse, NY

Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age.

Background checks required
Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred.
Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.
Other: The individual does not have the authority to set the staff salary in this model. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
